Re: Contest: photo/art that you'd see in Twilight

Thanks again for all the entries. There was a fantastic lack of overlap for the most part, so short answer is: everyone wins! In a couple of cases I'm moving pictures to slightly more suitable zones, but I think I can use most of the entries. I'm holding Mara to just three (to be fair to the other e...

Re: Gold diet run?

Things like "gold diet" were just suggested nomenclature -- make it easy to understand which one of the 600 types of runs you're doing. They're not really designed to be named on your retcon history page, besides the handful of named runs, which we thought might be popular paths.

Re: Comic Con 2011

I can't find my original note from last year, but the offer I made stands. If you're going to comic-con and can provide some evidence that you're there wearing a Twilight Heroes shirt, I'll give you a gold star in-game, which is basically getting the shirt for about half price.

Gotcha, sorry, brain had shut off on the drive home for work. Guess I'll call that a documentation error, too, and say 2X is right, and I've also added the word "mechanical" to the description to exclude things like Endurance.

Re: Minor bugs

Endurance doesn't have any sort of gadget involved, so from a logical perspective there's nothing that tinkering could improve. Is that the entire issue? That seemed like a lot of words to say "improved tinkering doesn't work with endurance" so I may have missed something. If that's it, al...

It's modeled on a late-80s Dodge Caravan that I used to drive. I took good care of it when I was the driver, but a younger sibling trashed the heck out of it.

It is either:

a) an oversight I'll try to fix quickly
b) deeply problematic because of the nature of the caves, and really hard to fix.

Currently I couldn't tell you which.

Re: Cris does stupid stunts!

Honestly, I don't ever design talismans to be "good." I tend to think of them as double-edged swords designed to be interesting based on their strength and weaknesses. In my mind the king should be "interesting" because it's hard to get. Not any more beneficial than any other tal...

In case that helps, it seems like the missing HP is somehow added to your strength. Or at least I've gained unexplainable strength bonuses after investing skill points right after levelling, while losing max HP. Both values go back to normal after the next level up. It also appears that investing s...

Nope. I know exactly what's going on. It's just a messy piece of code that I haven't quite felt ready to tackle. Stats issues are probably caused by the same thing -- a combination of +Str and +%Str might cause weird blips up or down, in a similar fashion. There's definitely no crossover where HP ar...

Goal: Create an image of something you would see in one of the zones of Twilight city. Deadline: July 5, 2011. Contest closes at rollover on the 5th (which I realize is the morning of the 6th in places far east of the US). Judging to be completed by the 15th. Prizes to be distributed by the 20th. P...

Re: changing foe elemental weaknesses and resistances

I sympathize a bit, Tek, though I still think overall this is better than it was. For one thing, the distribution is more balanced, whereas before it was pretty erratic and definitely unbalanced toward psychic resistance, particularly in the later levels of retcon. Also, for as many resistances as I...

I've been swayed by the argument, and separated the element and bonus components of the jester. You should be able to tune either element or bonus independently. Combat items which don't do any damage behave as if there's no element associated, instead of defaulting to physical.

Items are visible-ish because you have to actually locate them and maybe put them to use, or distinguish them from each other. The badge is definitely as it is for joke factor. If it makes some people squirm because it's not meeting proper aesthetics -- that just makes the joke even better!

Re: changing foe elemental weaknesses and resistances

I've definitely thought about it for psions, who are more limited in their range. Elementals have a pretty broad set of options already, so it's probably less useful for them. Obviously naturalists don't have any element to resort to, and might benefit from having something flexible permed.

I'd considered the bonus as part of being tuned to an item, so tuning to another item would change the bonus, too. I think I've got a "change the channel" metaphor going, where it's all or nothing, and you may have been working with a "picture in picture" model of the process, wi...
