As a rollover message it won't ping chat and alert you there, but it darn well should show up with a "you have a new message" alert when you log out and back in.

Re: National Novel Writing Month

As much as I hate to say it out loud and thus increase my accountability, I'll be working on a Twilight-themed story this month. Not set in the city, but a superhero story in the same world, more or less. Clavis Clepsydra and a new Frostheim are likely to make an appearance, I think.

Weird. I'll check blue pill.

Like any good order of operations, xp benefits should multiply and then add -- the percent modifier should be applied to the base first and then the additives.

National Novel Writing Month

Time for my annual plug for National Novel Writing Month. It's a month where you do a really crazy personal writing project, and have a lot of fun, and tens of thousands of other people go through the same experience with you at the same time. I'd say more, but if you're into writing you should just...

Re: Original Continuity - Meaningless?

You, um, get to play that class? Assuming most new characters are also new players, and unfamiliar with the game, sometimes it's nice not to have too much weight put on decisions you have to make before you've got the knowledge to make them. Also, it's totally a line in your retcon history, so don't...

Re: Hello World (aka Don't Panic II, Electric Bugaloo)

I just want to say I'm convinced Kinak is going to do well with this. Metroplexity has a great reputation. I know he's got the coding skills, he can handle both the dark and humorous writing, and in just the few weeks we've been talking I've seen a bunch of good ideas come up when talking about that...

Found the bug. Fixed that. Will have to clean up a couple of accounts this evening.

For the public record, I check all three locations regularly, but the actual bug report form is the fastest and most reliable way to reach me.

Re: New level 12/13 quest

I've heard there are ways to use PHP to adjust images, and I was once tempted to try to get it to work that any foe with greater than X foe toughness would show up in red instead of grayscale. But after wasting about 10 hours on the thing I gave up and got back to work on retcon, or whatever the que...

Jesus, nobody but you has used physical mail to donate since 2008. I don't know why I keep the box, except I've got an attachment to the number 421, and 4241 is too coincidentally close to give it up. (How's that for a math geek?)

Sorry. The store was all out of "senior partner wants to become junior partner" signs. Figured the classic would get the point across, and a reference to classic Douglas Adams would keep the perspective properly out of alignment.

So, since making this announcement, donations have kind of dried up. Like completely. I assume it's not because the IotM is completely lousy and more because people are cautious about donating to a game when it appears to be in flux. I understand that, and I understand my reassurances may not be eno...

Re: Twilight Heroes needs cheap/free/good marketing ideas!

I've used AdWords in the past for other businesses, but not for TH. At the time it seemed like a really huge waste of money. It was a completely different business, though, so maybe I've ruled it out unnecessarily. The FaceBook ads that I see tend to really annoy me. Maybe because they're all Zynga ...

Don't panic!

In the immortal words of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: don't panic! First, the game isn't going anywhere. The entire purpose of this offer is to keep it alive. I'm not planning on dumping the game, I'm not planning on shutting it down, and I'd refuse an offer if I found a willing taker who I...

Re: Ideas for a new/better pvp system

Just a question, doesn't PvP fights normally involve your normal fighting capabilities like to hit/dodge/stats and so on? Mainly because if they did, Cristiona and Questionario would have simply won every fight, because they had old, high-level accounts. I could have instituted level-based brackets...

Those are almost universally good suggestions, 7. Lots of good flavor, and some interesting coordination with superhero themes. #1 is particularly good, and I may go out of my way to try to work that in. In my defense, my original plans did include some higher tier and more complicated equipment, an...

Do portmanteaus count as puns?

Speaking of portmanteaus, this morning my wife said "slunching" as a combination of slouching and hunching. They're surprisingly difficult to make up, but she's got quite the knack for them.

Issues with water sprite text and squawking radio image displaying should be fixed.
