Re: Question about Unlocking Certain Items from Nocturne

For the retcons, the Futility Belt is a free pull.
So start the run, pull the belt for free, then immediately equip it.

Question about Unlocking Certain Items from Nocturne

There are several items in Nocturne's Shop which the wiki says are unlocked by completing a run with 10+ mettle, no pulls and a Futility Belt. (Silver minimum) There are two questions I have about this: 1) What does it mean by "silver minimum?" 2) Will I have to assemble the ...

Re: Elementalist = hard mode

I also found Gadgeteer way easier than Psion (a point noted by the fact that I finished up about 15 hours earlier in my Maso run thereafter). Of course in the first run I was using a futility belt for no good reason so that probably didn't help.

Re: Hard Mode

It's a good idea. I certainly don't have any objections to hard mode (see: the futility belt). And it's super easy to make jokes about things being terrible :) My concern with making them Items of the Month is that people will want to compete at it and making it ...

Hard Mode

So, I've been thinking. It's pretty obvious that we are a community of people who like challenges. From Maso and Heirloom to Futility Belt and other stunt runs, we tend to seek out challenges in the early game, instead of looking for trouble in the higher levels. As a community, we spend ...

Re: A new newbie from the land of Erf!

Also, the futility belt (although hilarious) probably isn't great until you have your legs under you :) I may be the only person to do more than 1 Maso(the most difficult retcon type) Psion Futility Belt Retcon I am very certain ...

Re: A new newbie from the land of Erf!

Just so you know, the futility belt will make runs harder, but can be used to unlock interesting goodies if used correctly.

Feel free to take a look around my primary character's profile: Khal Thralkhar If you have other questions, just ask.

Re: A new newbie from the land of Erf!

... The way I see it, PPs for psion are there for after fight healing and to put up Vim? I need to talk to you about my favourite Talisman, the Futility Belt. Better yet, I bet one of my alts has a spare I will send it to you. There are some mobs which are Psion immune, there is a skill called ...

I'm pretty sure those will only fire if the respective pool is already maxed.

Re: May Maso Melee (Contest)

The futility belt does sometimes restore PP and HP (not at the same time) but it also will: Damage you (you mis-throw a grenade) End the combat losing the turn (you find a smoke bomb) Increase your fumble chance (you find butter ...

Yeah, I was astonished how hard it is to keep your hitpoints up at low levels.

Is the futility belt bad then? I haven't played with one yet, wiki makes it seem like you get lots of good effects.

... chips are "worthless". Once things normalize, star prices will find equilibrium and selling old IotM for chips won't be an exercise in futility. And people will actually have the chips to do so. While I would prefer the level 12 quest (and that's what I voted for), I freely admit that ...
