Holy bujeezus am I getting tired looking for an appropriate avatar. What with the 100x100 limit and the fact that I can't seem to find a way to get my oen pictures up there.

How do you guys find such awesome pictures?

Also, is there a way to put our saved pictures on there? It only gives a URL option.

A.) It's actually 150x150 pixels.

B.) Luck?

C.) Use an image hosting site, like http://imageshack.us

I used the GIMP to create my avatar, and I've found it an effective and free tool for all my image creation needs. It lets you both paint new images and modify existing ones. Then I host them on Photobucket, but imageshack or any of the other services likely work just as well.

If you're looking for a quick and easy way to resize/crop, snipshot.com seems to do the job. Easily allows you to do both, and then download the result as a jpg/gif which you can upload on imageshack.

Irfanview is a free image (and audio and video and...) viewing program that also has very basic image manipulation tools (handy ones being: crop, resize, and compression adjustment). It also has the advantage of being freaking tiny: 450kb in a single .exe file.
