I was attempting to snipe an auction at the last minute today, a jet pack that was selling at 44k, I put in a bid of 45k in what should have been the last 10 secs of the bidding. I had the bid window open previously and was using my own clock to watch the time. I put the bid in, and it accepted the 45k bid, but on the acceptance screen the auction I was bidding on was already gone. I checked my messages and no jet pack.

There are two possibly related or unrelated problems I imagine this being, one simple one not simple.

One: There is no check on auctions to see if they're still active before accepting your bids. It took the bid because I had an old window open to make a bid.

Two: I made the bid at the last possible second, before the auction had resolved but while it was still active.

Regardless, this should be looked into before the player base expands to include people who will be doing just such a thing in the future, and be quite angry when they get screwed over by it.

Let's put this into one thread:

I appear to have simultaneously won and lost a recent auction. As a result, I got the item with a victory message, but also received a too-bad-you-lost message and got all my chips back. Here's a screenshot of the result:

Anyway, I'm not sure what happened, but there you go.

Well, the obvious answer is that Alhazred should go ahead and give the jetpack to Dorian, and I should figure out how to fix this right-quick. My guess is there's a few seconds of overlap where the auction is about to be processed, but where it still lets you bid even though it shouldn't.

I don't like the sound of that, but sure, I'll abide. Sigh.

Dorian, which Dorian are you? There's a Dorian Gray and a Dorian Grey, and I want to be certain I send the jetpack to the correct person. I know your forum name suggests the latter, but I want to make sure.

Dorian Grey is correct, and I appreciate that, I'd just given it up as lost.

Edit: It did give you your 44k bid back right?

Yep. Check the screenshot out. (I was bidding the vast majority of my meager wealth in chips.) I got it all back plus the jetpack.

Message sent.

Okay, I think I've got this fixed. There was a window where an auction could be ended and marked for processing, but still get bid on. Should be covered. Thanks for your cooperation, Alhazred. I realize that's a little goofy for ya.
