I dunno if it's needed, but should we start working on a semi cryptic quest guide ala KoL forums?

There's a few quests it might be handy for.

Whilst i'm here, any signs of merit badges 8, 9 and 10?

I can never get 6 sadly, blessed be the alpha team.

You're referring to a spoiler-free guide, I assume?

If you want spoilers, all of that information is on the Wiki...

Yeah, KoL has a number of quest guides on it's forums. I believe that in addition to being non-spoilery, they are also in haiku. Obviously we wouldn't want to just steal that, but figuring out a way to make the hints stand out from other things would be neat.

Spoonerisms, maybe?

Had to go look that up, now I understand.
Huh... That's kind of an interesting idea.
It certainly ties in to the game, but it would be kind of hard. I'd be for it.
Anyone else have a thought?

The problem with spoonerisms as clues is, if done right, they tend to be pretty obvious. For instance, if I say: 'go visit the dig bog' and there's a big dog somewhere, it's practically a blatant spoiler.

On the other hand, if chosen poorly or somewhat fumbled, they're just plain incomprehensible.

Honestly, I just like artfully choosing hints that are vague without being too vague and useful without being too useful. That in itself is an art form.

Not that I'll be mad if people use spoonerisms here and there, I just don't think they're good spoiler material.

I wasn't really thinking about whether they would work well at the time.
It was just the only literary device that I could think of that is somewhat associated with the game.
I guess we could go with epic poetry.

But yeah, seriously, the best way is just well done hints.

Limericks? :P

Young heros sent down by the officer Rand
Got blocked by doors in dank maze land
But then a mender of bind
who was very kind
told them that they should try to gray sand

Edit: Corrected wor(l)d order

These ideas, while amusing, make me think that Ryme's advice about well-written hints may be the key here. I thought something neat like haikus might reveal itself, but for now, I don't think that it will. Let's just go ahead and write a guide, critique it, work out the kinks, and put it up. If some neat hint method reveals itself in the future, well, we do have a neat edit button.

You are now required to have all your posts be limericks :P

Told a limerick too many to his mom

It was a limerick he would squeak.
But now that guy is dead so no one cares.
