You've heard of Official Unofficial threads? Well this isn't one of them because technicaly it isn't officialy unofficial. So yeah.

Terrible at it.
I tend to reach for the wrong button, and I can't think fast enough to switch buttons mid-clusterfuck.

Ah, perhaps I should actually answer the question.

I play on Medium, and I'm not terrible. I could probably play Hard, but I need to re-train my brain to use the Orange key, and I haven't been able to do that quite yet. Eventually, though.

Harmonix in general is a great studio in general. Karaoke Revolution wasn't my style (though the vocals on Rock Band are a different matter), same with EyeToy Antigrav, but I've liked everything else I've played by them. Frequency and Amplitude, though I only played the demos, seemed to be fun. Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II are sheer genius, though Rocks the 80s was a sever disappointment, and quite obviously a cash grab. Rock Band is fantastic and fuck, even Phase, that iPod game they just released, is absolutely great.

Personally, I think GH3 kinda sold out. Not nearly as good as the first two. The set list isn't as good, the character designs are ugly, etc. I think some of the songs (The Devil Went Down to Georgia and Through the Fire and Flames) are ambitious, but only because they're ten times harder than almost everything in the first two games, which, frankly, I didn't really want.

Don't get me wrong, the setlist isn't bad. But Guitar Hero II? One of the best songlists in any music game, ever. Message in a Bottle. Hangar 18. Carry on Wayward Son. John the Fisherman. Jordan. Six. Thunderhorse. Phychobilly Freakout. Misirlou. Free Bird. YYZ! Fucking YYZ! That's like, my all-time favorite song, behind (Don't Fear) The Reaper which, what do you know, is in Rock Band.

Rock Band, I'll admit, doesn't have as good a setlist, in my opinion. It has (Don't Fear) The Reaper and Tom Sawyer, though, two of my favorite songs, and stuff from tons of good bands.

Guitar Hero I has a great setlist too.

But GHIII? Doesn't really stick out. Like I said, it's got TtFaF and TDwDtG, two fantastic, fantastic songs, and some other good stuff, but nothing as great as the Harmonix games.

Maybe that's just me, though. >_>

it was that alone that sold me on guitar hero.

ok, not really, but i still love that stupid game. i played it for about 5 hours straight on new year's eve. i can play the real guitar to an extent, but guitar hero is still fun to me. like someone said earlier, its a video game. video games are fun. guitar hero is fun. the end.

NoIdea, I believe you mean *an* avatar. Just saying.

I typed out a long, elaborate post yesterday, but lost it and don't feel like rewriting it. Something about being annoyed by people who say "go play real guitar."

So yeah, I just beat my best percentage on Through the Fire and Flames expert, with 69%. So w00t for me.

I play Harmonica hero. Which is mostly just me goofin' on the damn thing while I tap my toes. If someone gets a jug out, it's like a whole new game.
