My current buffs/debuff list. Nothing has changed with that for the last 30+ patrols save their time.
Except that, test-wise, I replaced ~800 minutes of Frickin' Sharp with an equal amount of Self-Balancing (all my PP, 144 to be exact. 18 casts worth)
Before I applied self-balancing with the work gloves on (which I've been wearing since I hit level 8), I never, ever fumbled. And that's .... well, a lot of time and patrols. I never fumbled even once, first with Sharpened and then Frickin' Sharp (+hit forever!).
But now, after my experiment? I decided that I liked the extra damage from Frickin' Sharp better than some minuscule increase in crit chance, donned my work gloves instead of the spiked ones, shrugged off Self-Balancing and re-applied a few hundred minutes of Frickin' Sharp.
Only that now I fumble.
I tried un- and re-equipping the Work Gloves, to no avail. Not enough PP to re-try casting all over the place again, but still.
The fumbles are not even particularly harmful - 5 damage / fumble - but they're happening when they shouldn't. No debuff effect going, but they happen nonetheless.
Maybe wearing work gloves and then casting Self-Balancing breaks the no-fumble mechanism?
