Don't count on my vote. Maybe you could start that game in another thread.

Forget it, Sanjuro. Ryme's already stated that one thread like this is enough.

Great Caesar's Ghost! This thread is taking on a life of it's own! (And you should read the first post of this thread again, too!)
When you do the best you can it's called a try!
If you don't you need to ask yourself why?
Just give it a thought,
And failure is worth naught.
And then like an eagle you shall fly!
If you don't you need to ask yourself why?
Just give it a thought,
And failure is worth naught.
And then like an eagle you shall fly!

Hey, no fair accusing us of not reading the post when your edited amendment had not yet been applied!

Question: Which is better -- Star Wars or Star Trek?
I've won the 100k DD bet so many times, I should have the title "Mr. Luck"
Re: Alphabet Soup - Game
Really, it depends. Star Trek produced better filmic productions (movies, tv shows) but Star Wars produced better textual productions (books).

Star Wars vs Star Trek? The BOTH begin with "S"!

Re: Alphabet Soup - Game
That's a tough one, but in the end, I like Star Trek better. It's hard to say why.

You mean like the GURPS: Aliens creature, or the creature from the movie Alien, or are you really interested in geology?

But I do want to point out that 'xenomorph' is a geological term.

Re: Alphabet Soup - Game
For Shikao: A xenomorph is a rock structure; it's part of petrology, which is part of geology. Here, let me quote wikipedia:
A xenomorph (also: allotriomorph) is a mineral that did not develop its otherwise typical external crystal form because of late crystallization between earlier formed crystals. Xenomorphs are typical of matrix minerals in rapidly crystallizing volcanic lavas and shallow igneous intrusions. It is also typical of the interstitial or cementing minerals formed during the diagenesis of sedimentary rocks. The opposite is an idiomorph in which the external form is controlled only by the internal crystal structure.

Granted, but it's also the name of the alien from the Alien franchise.

However, he *did* ask what it meant in geology; I felt it was my duty to answer.

Of course, that's half the fun. If there were a topic we had to adhere to, it'd be a different kind of game.
