Opinions aren't some magical construct that are immune to cold, harsh reality. It could be your opinion that the sun revolves around the earth, or your opinion that dinosaurs were wiped out by time traveling aliens, but you'd be wrong. Instead of hiding behind opinion like it's some kind of shield, how about you back it up with something?

Here, I'll even give you a start:

In a run where you're using ranged weapons, what non-donation hat is better than Mecha Nist's helmet for general retcon use?

As much as it pains me to agree with Satan... I totally get where he's coming from on this. In retcon terms, the 'high-level' equipment is largely useless because of the level requirements, the lower level items might be useful for a level or two.
Yes, the Murk's shirt is sweet if you have enough other sources of -time such that xent isn't needed. Archon's staff/hammer time/Zeno's bow is usually better than the nocturne weapons, though.

It doesn't really affect me either way... I can't understand anyone choosing runs with item restrictions. But I can understand thinking the store items aren't all that some seem to be making them out to be. Now, if they were all shoes...

I tried to make shoes, but Ryme wouldn't let me.
