world's best caffeines and desserts

Post by Ryme »

So, this is informal, but may be used as game research (or research of the delicious personal kind). What do you think are some of the very best caffeines and desserts out there?

Try to limit it to one or two of each.

For me, the best dessert ever was a sugar cream pie from a place called Ahlmeyer Farms, a bakery in Indiana, which has apparently gone out of business.

For desserts that still exist, chocolate of all kinds is up there, but for sheer decadence in a dessert, it's hard to beat a fantastic chocolate eclaire.

I don't think I have a favorite caffeine -- they all tempt me, even though at the moment a study I read about on slashdot has convinced me to go decaf. Perhaps the most enjoyable I've had was an espresso porter -- two types of buzz at once!

Coffee helps prevent Parkinsons. Screw decaf.

As for deserts... hard to beat a good tiramisu.

Great, now we're going to need some joke "tear of misu" item in the game somewhere that's an edible teardrop-shaped gem. Or something random like that. "tier of mesue"?

Make it a drop from the Demi-Urge. Zion's Tears stole the Tear of Misu as part of an attempt to steal all the world's tears.

It would, of course, be a caffeine-sugar combo.

Turkish coffee's good, but I prefer to just have a small slice.

I have a dessert, but I'm not sure what it's called. It's a layered dessert, it has a graham cracker crust on the bottom, then some yellow custard/pudding that tastes amazing, then some white fluffy cream, then another graham cracker crust, then sugary glaze and some glaze-like chocolate poured across it in little strings. It's quite possibly the most delicious thing in existence. My family calls it French dessert >.>

I often joke with the local barista that if I took my espresso any shorter I might as well just inject it to my veins. So the best caffeine in my opinion is simply Ristretto.
I'd go for 100% cocoa chocolate for dessert.
Did I say I don't really fancy sweet?

Are you maybe talking about this? It can be varied, I'm sure:

Chocolate Delight Recipe

A popular chocolate layered dessert with pudding, a graham cracker crust, sweetened cream cheese, and whipped topping.
Ingredients:

* 1 package graham cracker crust mix
* 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
* 1 cup confectioners' sugar
* 1 cup non-dairy whipped topping
* 1 package vanilla instant pudding
* 1 package chocolate instant pudding
* 3 cups milk

Preparation:
Make crust according to package directions and press into the bottom of a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees just a few minutes. Mix cream cheese, sugar and whipped topping and pour over crust. Mix puddings and milk and pour over cheese layer. Dot with additional whipped

I love chocolate pie! My grandma used to make that when I was little, and then I had a girlfriend 3 or 4 years back who did it just as well as grandma. Now I can't remember why I let her go......

Watergate Salad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watergate_salad
This is the best, easily modifiable, quick to throw together deliciousness that is a does of sugar served up on a cool whip cloud of sugariness...

Caffeine-wise I would have to say my favorite right now is the Mountain Dew Typhoon (White Out tastes like normal dew, and distortion is only good for a caffeinated Margareta (i.e. mix it with tequila)).

That sounds similar. Not quite the same, but very similar.

Guess I can add to this list:

Caffeine: "Purple Cow Energy Shot" - It makes you sing! (Red Bull, obviously)
Sugar: "Dunked Do-Nots" - Pastry shaped into round rings. DO NOT dunk them any more, for they are pre-dunked in your favorite beverage. (Dunken Donuts, of course!)

My favorite desserts are cheesecake and ice cream. Cheesecake ice cream is, of course, da bomb diggity!
I've actually seen some of these ice cream flavors in Japan, though I would probably never try them:

As for caffeine, I like Kona coffee. It's grown on the "Big Island" of Hawaii.
There are some very expensive coffees I would like to try someday, like Jamaican Blue Mountain or kopi luwak.

Yes, that's US$90 for one pound of kopi luwak, naturally processed.

I got a half pound of Jamaican Blue for my birthday once. It was quite nice.

There's a Japanese steak house I go to sometimes that has green tea icecream. It's not too bad. Kinda has a minty vanillay flavor.

Favorite desert: white chocolate bread pudding

Favorite source of caffeine: Full Throttle energy drink or Mochassippi from Community Coffee House.

I always liked Afri Cola with its German warning that translated to "No pleasure without danger".
