Obviously you couldn't actualy call them familiars, but what if you had something like Sidekicks? One thing I don't like KOL familiars is they don't do enough, they usualy just have one effect. Perhaps the sidekick would always fight and have various attacks and abilities? Also, they would have to have more than one equipment slot, and perhaps use the same items you do, and have one slot for specific sidekick-only equipment.

Thoughts?

Right now, computer programs are working kind of like familiars do in KoL. Sidekicks would be neat, but probably involve a lot of heavy programming.

Especially since sidekicks tend to get kidnapped or blown up by bad guys.

Naturalists have a couple of creature summons, and Psions have the Wind Warrior... but those work as buffs.

But how will we ever have an Ambiguously Gay Duo without sidekicks? :(
