Keep forgetting to set up another of these. Let's call it Saturday, May 16, at 6 p.m. US Mountain time (I think that's GMT -7?) Yeah, that's just 2 days from now, but what the heck.

Details on the forums. Be sure to check the 32nd reply!

Not that the update didn't tell you everything you needed to know. I was just thinking there'd be another thread for it (Tea 2: This Time it's Personal), or that the new date would be edited into the first post.

And 5 PM for US Pacific.

And 7 PM for Central.

And 1 AM for the Brits.

And god knows how many other important countries and regions we have to state the timezone of!

Don't forget 2 am CET. It covers Norway and most countries in Europe.

Question 1: How did you decide on a super hero themed game?
Answer 1: Fantasy was taken, and pure sci-fi/space wasn't my thing? Actually, I'd been thinking for months about writing a superhero themed novel for NanoWrimo. Particularly with a focus on "what does it mean to be a hero" and "what little advantages can turn out to be heroic"?
In my case, my theory was someone sent back in time to the year of their birth might be a hero solely with "a VERY limited knowledge of future events"

Question 2: Super heros were taken, too. Or do you just mean with browser-based?

Answer 2: browser based, specifically. Fantasy would have been my preference, but I didn't think I could match KoL.

Question 3: Is there any possibility in our future that the sidekick is going to bite the dust, before the story of Twilight fully unfolds?

Answer 3: That's a tough question. Obviously danger to sidekicks is key to the genre. On the other hand, once they're tied into donation items, I don't have too much leeway to take them away.

There's a good chance I'd do a quest with your sidekick unavailable, but they'd have to be returned some way after the quest.

Question 4: Why did you choose to do IotM's in single colors?

Answer 4: I haven't always. Some of them have a couple of colors. Not counting the prismabra and dreampants.
But in general the images are small, and it can get hard to tell what's going on, and I think the single color keeps it simple. Or one color plus a highlight.
Gigaguy cannon is red and purple. Foxy suit has hints of red in the yellow, etc.

Question 5: Why do the magic chest items not have matching colors?

Answer 5: I thought the variety was nice.

Question 6: What type of IotM will we be getting next month?
Not an Answer 6: It's too early to say, really.

[Interruption to help someone with quests]

Question 7: Do you have any plans to incorporate the robots into the storyline? Are they purely side areas?

Psuedo-Answer 7: Space robots are mostly self-contained high-level content.

Question 8: Who is the mick?

Potentially not Serious Answer 8: the mick is an amalgamation of 15 lesser criminals

Question 9, 10, and 11 [Combo!]: Is the new UR in the game yet? Can I have one? Please?

Respective answers: No, no, and maybe if you farm enough.

Question 12: who helps you create this game, Ryme?

Answer 12: well, I'm in charge, but I've had some help. Credits page in the manual tells all.

[N] Olaf: No

[N] sAkUrA: I haven't been in here for a while.
[N] Ryme: hey, Sakura. Welcome to Tea Time with Ryme.
[N] sAkUrA: but, gtg
[N] Ryme: @olaf: browser based, specifically. Fantasy would have been my preference, but I didn't think I could match KoL.
[N] ValERa: Ryme: Is there any possibility in our future that the sidekick is going to bite the dust, before the story of Twilight fully unfolds??
[N] Ryme: seeya, Sakura.
[N] Ryme: That's a tough question, Val. Obviously danger to sidekicks is key to the genre. On the other hand, once they're tied into donation items, I don't have too much leeway to take them away.
[N] Ryme: There's a good chance I'd do a quest with your sidekick unavailable, but they'd have to be returned some way after the quest.
[N] ValERa: Well, heroes get new sidekicks all the time
[N] ValERa: I mean, how many robins has Batman been through now? =P
[N] Ryme envisions a stream of understudies at the recruitment party
[N] ValERa snickers
[N] Ryme: Oh, by the way, is anyone recording this for posterity?
[N] ValERa: I am now, I suppose
[N] Satan: oh, right, tea time
[N] Ryme: thanks, Val. Knew I put up with you for some reason. :)
[N] ValERa: You put up with me just because I'm a great inspiration for sidekicks.
[N] Ryme: Come on in, Satan. Pull yourself up a chair and pour yourself a nice hot cup of Pop Tarts.
[N] Olaf: But who knows what it will come out as?
[N] Olaf: Ryme: Purple
[N] Olaf: Olaf: Purple
[N] Ryme: Okay, fine: Purple
[N] Olaf: Ryme Purple!
[N] ValERa: Ryme: Why did you choose to do IotM's in single colors?
[N] Olaf: :P
[N] Ryme: I haven't always, Val. Some of them have a couple of colors.
[N] Ryme: Not counting the prismabra and dreampants.
[N] ValERa: They are? They seem to be pretty much themed with one color.. Unless you're counting different shades of the same color
[N] Ryme: But in general the images are small, and it can get hard to tell what's going on, and I think the single color keeps it simple. Or one color plus a highlight.
[N] Ryme: gigaguy cannon is red and purple. Foxy suit has hints of red in the yellow, etc.
[N] Ryme: some of the older ones are one color, though.
[N] Satan: the gigaguy cannon is purple!?!
[N] Satan: i thought it was black
[N] Ryme: most of the body is black limned in purple.
[N] Olaf: Why do the magic chest items not have matching colors? D:
[N] Satan: why /should/ they have matching colors?
[N] Satan: the chest is a bit different from the other summons
[N] Ryme: I thought the variety was nice.
[N] Harry Dresden: Variety is over rated.
[N] Satan: what type of iotm will we be getting next month?
[N] Harry Dresden wants a floating skull.
[N] Olaf: Grr. Just closed this tabe when I was just trying to go to it.
[N] Ryme: It's too early to say, really.
[N] Isthius: anyone know how i get above level 50?
[N] Olaf: tab :|
[N] Isthius: Training link says "You're not supposed to be here. "
[N] Ryme: There's a quest you've got to complete, Isthius.
[N] Isthius: Really?
[N] Ryme: May want to start by talking to Susan.
[N] Isthius: I figured I have done everything many times over lol
[N] Isthius: Susan isnt an option for me...
[N] Ryme: You're in for a big surprise, then.
[N] Ryme: She's not at the University?
[N] Isthius: nope
[N] Isthius: just campus and guild
[N] Ryme: Below that, by the hospital and coffee shop?
[N] Isthius: hospital, coffee, aarons
[N] Isthius: thats it
[N] ValERa: Oh! That reminds me... Ryme: Do you have any plans to incorporate the robots into the storyline? Are they purely side areas?
[N] Ryme: very weird. Did you do the college riot quest?
[N] Olaf: Have you stopped a protest yet?
[N] Ryme: What's your journal say?
[N] ValERa: They're a PSP attacker! Oh noooes
[N] Ryme: Space robots are mostly self-contained high-level content.
[N] Isthius: Like a Super Neighbor, Trouble in the Galleria
[N] Isthius: Don't Cry for Me, Zion-tina, go fish
[N] Isthius: the last two have no text
[N] Isthius: nothing under completed quests
[N] Ryme: those in the completed section?
[N] Ryme: Weird. I may have to check your settings. Visited Rand lately?
[N] Isthius: what is rand again? sorry...
[N] ValERa: A function to grab a psueod-random number
[N] Olaf: Police
[N] Satan: pseudo-random /integer/
[N] Ryme: the police officer who runs most of the quests.
[N] ValERa: Satan, is it aninteger? I thought it generated a number between 0 and 1, in some languages
[N] Olaf: rnd() in BASIC does that
[N] Isthius: i dont see any police/rand
[N] Ryme: oh, you know what? You need to do the like a super neighbor quest to unlock all the other quests.
[N] Olaf: Isthius, have you ever vised a police department?
[N] Olaf: *visited
[N] Isthius: i dont think so...
[N] ValERa: They have the like a super neighbor quest open
[N] Ryme: There's about 7 of them waiting for you.
[N] ValERa: they haven't met or saved Rand
[N] Olaf: You had to to ge the quests.
[N] Ryme: Follow the instructions in the journal.
[N] Ryme: You've got a lot of stuff still waiting for you.
[N] Isthius: ok sorry guys...
[N] Ryme: no problem. Have fun!
[N] Harry Dresden: How do you get to level 50 without doing quests? That's the fun part of the early game.
[N] ValERa: The flip side is, they're better than the rest of us.. not corrupted by Susan.
[N] Olaf: And without robots. :O
[N] Isthius: heh, i guess i never looked at the journal much
[N] Ryme: Journal is the key to all the quests.
[N] ValERa: Except when Susan needs to spam your mail box about being under attack
[N] Ryme: If you were being attacked by space robots, wouldn't you spam the hero's mailbox?
[N] Olaf: I would bang on their door.
[N] Harry Dresden: I would trap one, and patent the technology so I could make billions!
[N] ValERa: Ryme: Not in Susan's case... She's crafty and evil.
[N] Olaf: Or call their phone.
[N] Isthius: thanks for your help i will proceed down this quest line
[N] Satan: who is the mick?
[N] Satan: susan's not the mick, right? :p
[N] ValERa: Susan, Durr
[N] Olaf: What about leagues?
[N] Ryme: the mick is an amalgamation of 15 lesser criminals
[N] ValERa suddenly imagines 15 criminals combining together to form Mega Ultra Mick
[N] Satan: but susan's not included in those 15, right? >.>
[N] Ryme: well, that's half an hour.
[N] Satan: nuuuuuu
[N] ValERa: tea time is only for half an hour? Okays
[N] Ryme: I think I've solved some problems for the only non-regular here, so that's probably enough.
[N] Harry Dresden: But 10 minutes were spent helping someone figure out they need to do quests.
[N] Ryme: Besides, I talk to the rest of you enough as it is.
[N] Ryme: Except for Harry, I suppose.
[N] ValERa: But you don't ever tell me anything =P
[N] Ryme: Harry: I'll give you 3 questions.
[N] Harry Dresden: Is the new UR in the game yet?
[N] Harry Dresden: Can I have one?
[N] Olaf: Ryme the question genie.
[N] Harry Dresden: Please?
[N] Ryme: Valera, last time I told you something the whole game was abuzz in a matter of hours.
[N] Ryme: No, no, and maybe if you farm enough, Harry.
[N] ValERa tries to figure out what she -was- told.. "Uhh... Uhh..."
[N] Satan: damnit. you should've asked how much wood a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood :/
[N] Harry Dresden: That one's too easy. 7 cords of wood.
[N] Ryme: I think I'm gonna call it quits, and regroup to see if there's something I can do to increase participation.
[N] ValERa: Okays
[N] ValERa: I guess I'll work on replacing everything with purple
[N] Olaf: Monetary incentives.
[N] Ryme: Probably announcing earlier and looking at the timing would be two important parts.
N] Ryme: I'm not going to PAY people to talk to me, Olaf.
[N] Olaf: I would ncrease participation.
[N] ValERa: So.. do I just make a new thread.. is there a thread? Do the forums hate me?
[N] ValERa: Stupid page load error
[G] Olaf: half an hour ago
[G] Matthew Entreri: lol
[G] Matthew Entreri: oops
[N] Matthew Entreri: gah
[N] Ryme: Rand's not downtown. He's at the university to start.
[N] Isthius: i dont see him anywhere heh
[N] Ryme: He's somewhere, I swear.
[N] yamum: he should take a bullet like a man
[N] Ryme: Oh, wait. Wrong quest. Rand is the "Like a good Neighbor" quest.
[N] Ryme: Galleria quest won't help you unlock Rand.
[N] ValERa: reconnect GET
[N] Matthew Entreri: who helps you create this game, Ryme?
[N] Matthew Entreri: just you?
[N] Ryme: well, I'm in charge, but I've had some help. Credits page in the manual tells all.
[N] Isthius: ok now i see
[N] Isthius: wow i have missed a lot not doing quests lol
[N] Satan: onoez. i'm not on the moderator's list D:
[N] Ryme: I didn't want to break it to you this way, sate, but ...
[N] Olaf: Ryme, quck, he's an imposter mod! Take away his powers!
[N] Ryme kids

What really happened... through Valera's eyes wrote:
N] Olaf: Ryme: Purple
[N] Olaf: Olaf: Purple
[N] Ryme: Okay, fine: Purple
[N] Olaf: Ryme: Purple!
[N] Satan: Orange
[N] YooouuuTuuube: Whoa, free boat ride for three!
PM from Susan: I'm going to kill you!
PM to Susan: One day they'll turn on you...

very low turnout today. Almost all mods and old-timers. Not sure if the short notice is to blame, or the timing on a (for many players) Saturday afternoon/evening. I'll keep messing with the schedule until either I find a good one or nobody shows up at all.

I very much enjoy reading the transcripts, if it makes you feel any better :) Lots more people listen to Jick's podcast than his live radio show.

Interesting transcript!

I suspect I was probably online and awake at the time, but I was probably tied up playing an old Lego online game. Also, I don't have any questions since I haven't taken the time to think of any, and I'm perfectly happy to read the transcript if all I was gonna do is watch.

And through Val's eyes was rather amusing. Oh, and the last little bit of the full transcript.
