The little arrow on the left of thread titles which links to the first unread post doesn't work for me except for the first thread I try to use it on. After that, it disappears from all the other threads, and if I'm opening threads in tabs it says "No new posts since your last visit" on all but the first one. Is there a way round that?

Yeah. I've had the same problem since... Well ever.
Never actually mentioned it as I have a similar problem on two other forums.

I asked the phpBB support people about it, and their reply was that they don't support phpBB 2 or answer any questions about it. :( They said the issue would be unlikely to exist in phpBB 3, but it seems a bit extreme upgrading just for that. I'll keep looking around and see if I can find a fix for it.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to phpbb3? I did it myself on a forum I host, and with ~3500 posts it only took me about an hour to migrate and configure. You have to upgrade to the latest version of phpbb2 first, before switching to phpbb3, but everything is pretty self-explanatory, so it's not a big deal. And I haven't had a single spam account created since the upgrade, so that was the main benefit for me, as I used to get about 20 new spam accounts a day with phpbb2.
