I was looking at the wiki, and realized this game doesn't really have that many recipes yet. I think there's room for a few more, so I propose a contest.

Give me some recipes!

Rules:

0) Post your recipes here in this forum. Recipes sent anywhere else are likely to be ignored, deleted, or eaten by my dog.
1) It can be a combine, or weld.
2) It should consist of turning two existing items into a new item
3) If the process needs any explanation (for example, the recipe for high jump boots is kind of vague; the recipe for the lover's locket is obvious) please include a brief line or two.
4) Provide the name and a very brief description of the resulting item (it's a weapon that does sonic damage; it's a potion that buffs strength).
5) Avoid inventing completely new types of effects -- if nothing in the game does it now, yours shouldn't be able to do it.
6) Limit 1 entry per person. Pick your best, please.
7) Recipes should all be based on common items; no donation items, rares, ultrarares, or once-per-lifetime items.

Judging:

Judging will be based on the following factors, in this order:
1) Cleverness of the recipe and the name of the resulting item
2) Using items that don't currently have recipes
3) Practicality of implementing the item
4) Humor and whim on my part


Example of a good entry:


Winners:

Top 3 recipes (as rated by me) will be included in the game. (Runner up-recipes may also be included, or adapted, depending on how many I get and how good they are.) Anyone who suggests a recipe that gets implemented will get 50 of said item.

Top 3 recipes will receive other prizes, to be determined before the contest ends.

So I just need to figure a way to combine a Hero's Cape and a Gold Star.

@CS: probably. I've had a placeholder with that name for a year. Just never had a good recipe. Just thought it up.

Pink gumball + eyeball gumball = pinkeye gumball. (12 mins. and 1 sugar lvl.)

Chocolate covered jelly + eyeball gumball = eyeball jelly. (12 mins. and 1 sugar lvl.)

jawbruiser + embiggening tonic = jawcrusher (+10% weapon damage, +5% chance of fumble)

i have more but im tossing this up for now

ok.. smething else.... is only welding and assembling?... can't we blow up things already made to make new stuff??

Heres two suggestions, but, since the rules say choose our best... I will go with the Crystal Moth because I am a moth-head!

Combine eagle feather with squidopus ink.
Usable item, gain effect 'Literate', +X% Intellect.

digital sabor + data plate=annoying mp3 player

Take the computerized parts from the sabor, and add them to the data plate, and you get an mp3 player. Trouble is, there are no buttons. It always plays at top volume.

How about:
Ivory Coast spices + cup of tea/cup of herbal tea = Chai tea
Let's say it forms a caffeine item that is a tiny bit better than the gingerettes.

Rollerblades + high jump boots = Rollover (misc item)

The high jump boots let you get over anything, and the rollerblades provide the rolling. This item can be given out when rollover glitches out and doesn't work right. That way, when someone complains they didn't get rollover, another player can give them one of these.

Gauze Rifle (Smart bandages + Needler)

"This weapon uses the the natural electromagnetic properties of bandaids to accelerate cotton to ultra-high velocities! Wait, no it doesn't..."

Heals 1 hp a turn.

Quirk: A play on Gauze and Gauss sounding the same. A ludicrous combination, but still plausible. Easier to picture if you've ever gotten a shock from a bandaid.

Item 1: Metaphoric claws
Item 2: Schrödinger's box
Result: Quantum Sphere
What?: A talisman, if possible it's enchantments could change from day to day .
Why? The claw part of the Metaphoric claws shreds the box but since we've got the metaphor part of the claws to describe the contents we don't observe it and thus the quantum state remains intact.

usable

Description: "You've got a golden ticket! You've got a golden ticket! You've got a golden twinkle in your eye."

gives you a 'wonka bar' (perhaps name changed, but I can't think of a funny one right now) that takes Sugar 3, and gives 50 minutes.

Description: include references to (possibly) Doom's BFG, Transformers, unobtainium, Tesla, Quake, War of the Worlds, what have you. I won't because I can't do it yet.

I know we are only allowed one entry, and our first entry is supposed to be the serious one... so I am going to add this new one on top, because in spite of how bad i think this game NEEDS the flasher's coat... it needs this more...

1. Bag of PG Tip+ Bean Bag Cannon = The Tea Bagger

Its an abomination, a cruel heartless, wet, tube of death... firing out sweaty sacks... er... I mean slightly damp bags at those foolish enough to get in its way. Prepare to be violated! Nuff said...

No suggestions for the stats... something spiffy though hopefully



2. Flashlight + lab coat = Flasher's coat

Full body coat

Due to shock caused by the coat, I'd imagine initiative and maybe elec damage (cuz gosh darnit, its shocking! (to further emphasize the shock value))

Pic could be a cool back-shot image of an open trench coat ^^

Mecha Pinata + BeanBag Cannon = Automated Cannon

Ranged Weapon
[Limited Use : 256 Succesful Shots before it breaks, misses do not add to the counter, neither do fumbles.]

This item is a temporary weapon, to use in battles, and not in daily training, the upkeep of this item, will yield a constant need to acquire it, and a good source for income for players, dedicated to making it.

My two cents worth...I probably deserve change back.

Item 1: Trilobit
Item 2: Baseball Bat
Result: Bit Bat

It would look vaguely like a shovel and would raise the power level of bats to something more useable. And when swung, instead of saying "yes" or "no" it would say "but"


Item 1: Xelor watch
Item 2: Big Honkin' Hammer
Result: Hammer Time

Wielding it would slow down time and do double damage. Maybe sonic damage from the watch's built in alarm clock.


Item 1: Leather Gloves
Item 2: Lover's Locket
Result: Love Glove

Of course it would be made of Latex and provide additional protection. Because you can never be too careful.

Lack of Pies + Schrödinger's Box = Futility Belt

You place the lack of pies inside the box and close the lid. Several seconds pass in silence, then the box shudders and turns itself inside out... sort of. Where there was once a box is now a belt with many handy pouches. The coloration and design of the pouches are vaguely remind you of the box. Chuckling at your own timidity, you pick up the belt. After all, what's the worst that could happen?

The belt is an accessory that functions as a sort of anti-dreampants, giving out a host of negative effects. You think of what you need when you reach into a pouch, and the pouch produces something that is totally unhelpful.

What kind of unhelpful? Restore HP when your HP is full. Give you grenades with the pin already removed so you take damage. Give you smoke bombs to let your enemies escape. Make a beeping noise to distract you so you lose initiative...

Well, since I'm sick of all these overpowered items, my recipe suggestion is completely worthless, but could be a fun side diversion.

IQ200+

Item 1: IQ 120 or IQ 80.
Item 2: IQ 120 or IQ 80.
Requires soldering.

IQ200+ is not consumable, and cannot be equipped. It simply allows obsessive collector-ish types to continually create the largest numbered candy. As I hope is understood, it would allow you to combine any two IQ's of any level, including an IQ 200+ with an IQ120 or IQ80.

"You've succeeded in melting together your IQ120 and IQ80. While this creation would definitely be the most delicious, and energizing candy ever, you also melted a solder right into the goo. You couldn't eat this gunk in a million years. But, maybe if you had a higher IQ, you could figure out how to eat it..."


Though, I have been tossing around this idea, if you demand a useful effect, for the recipe. Right now, there's a lack of end-game content or items, and this could be a challenge. Make it an accessory, and give it a percentage boost to Reflexes, strength, and Intelligence. But, it's minuscule, and requires huge numbers before it becomes remotely useful. I'm talking .01% boost for 1000IQ here.

Of course, this is all assuming IQ's weren't a one day item, which I'm not sure of yet.

Firewater + Cup of Coffee = Boiling Hot Cup of Coffee

Description: This is a cup of boiling hot coffee, not unlike the ones you can purchase at your local fast food chain.

When used in combat: You throw the boiling cup of coffee at your opponent, scalding him for x damage (hot)

When used from inventory: You drink the boiling cup of coffee. What the hell is wrong with you? You lose x HP (hot). You spend your caffeine rush doubled over in pain. (no +minute gain)

When used from inventory with Publicist as your sidekick: You drink the boiling cup of coffee. What the hell is wrong with you? You lose x HP (hot). You spend your caffeine rush with your publicist contacting the local papers about your lawsuit against the fast food joint where you got the coffee, netting you x chips. (no +minute gain)

I'm gonna step in and enforce one of the rules that people seem to be missing:

1 Entry Per Person, please

If you want to list more than one, that's fine, but select your best and put it up top and mark it. If you've got more than one, I'm going to assume the first one is your contest entry.

Also, things like autosell value, item power, etc., really aren't necessary unless it's specific to the joke/feature of the item. Again, see the rules -- just an approximate description is fine. Don't waste your time deciding between +7 or +8 cold damage: I'm gonna throw all that out anyway and do my own calculations. Just tell me if it's hot or cold, ranged or melee, pants or gloves, etc.

Name: Sub-Zero Scabbard
Type: Accessory or maybe Off-hand, I dunno.
How Made: Installing the chiller ends up requiring you to unsew and resew the thing, and basically ends up taking way more room than expected, leaving very little space to store anything in the backpack, especially not the supply of ice-cold Gingerettes and popsicles you were hoping for. Looks like your weapon will still fit into the oddly shaped container, though.
What it does: Your weapon is always drawn icy-cold when you run into combat, adding a bunch of ice damage to your attacks.

Powered Chestpiece
weld xentrium breastplate with enerbun globule
eliminates (or shortens) negative effects after being defeated

*An Iron Man reference, obviously. Could also add some sort of "Malaise" effect when unequipping the chestpiece which adds one negative effect -- or maybe all that were avoided when wearing the armor.

Occassionally adds psychic damage at the begining of an encounter when someone who has read your blog thinks you are more powerful than you actually are.

Could involve jokes about the I am Legend movie or about Batman - the ultimate urban legend.
