(tries to make this spoiler-lite...)

I'm wondering if there's a hidden factor in Reputation changes or if there's just something I'm missing.

Today I tried to change my rep from Pragmatic to Honorable. So I hopped on my bandwagon and headed down to the docks, and my rep rapidly flipped to Balanced.

However, even after cruising through the U-district a couple times then switching to my VH-1 to buzz the zoo I find that I'm still stuck at Balanced.

I'm certain I made the correct choice at each of the four non-coms; so there's got to be some factor I'm not accounting for...

...that it can take more than 4 choices?

...that some of them worked the wrong axis?

Possible. But it was different choices on the same four adventures that moved me from Honorable to Pragmatic in the first place...

What I suspect is that you can't move two steps in the same direction in the same day...

Sure you can. I moved from Vigilante to Pragmatic to Watchdog to Altruist to Virtuous to Honorable all in one day.

Uh, did you do the u-district choices back to back?

I did, but didn't think that would be an issue given that they're in different zones. (but if there's some entanglement given they're subzones of the same area that could explain my issue)

OTOH, when I came back on day 2 and re-did one of the U-district choices (after visiting the zoo as the last adv on day 1) my rep instantly flipped to Honorable as expected.

Now I just need to figure out the Bandwagon... :P

Wait, are you talking about two different choices in that mix? That wasn't clear from your original post, which made it sound like you did the same choice twice. Rather than two different choices in two different zones under the same container.

Still, I do think it's possible for what you described to have happened and for it to have been necessary to get a fifth choice to fully change the reputation over from one to the other.

To be very clear:

1) Rep started at Pragmatic.
2) Equip Bandwagon.
3) Confiscate Cargo at the Docs.
>>Rep switches to Balanced.
4) Take up the Challenge
5) Accept the Loss
6) Equip VHF-1
7) Stay the Path
>>Rep is still Balanced
8] Wait until after Rollover
9) Equip Bandwagon
10) Take up the Challenge
>>Rep switches to Honorable

My primary assumption above was that choosing the same choice in the same adventure twice doesn't do anything; but the fact that I did Glove Slap twice disproves that.

My current conclusion then is that each adventure has a maximum value for its axis of +/- n (where n is likely 1 or 2); and each adventure there shifts you one that direction (two with the Bandwagon?). Meaning that to shift your alignment entirely across an axis you're going to need to hit some of the advs more than once (unless, if I'm figuring this correctly, you've got the Bandwagon equipped).

At any rate, I did get the Rep I was after, I'll pay a little more attention next time I go to change it again. :)

From what you describe, things look exactly right. Even with the bandwagon, it takes more than 3 choices to shift your reputation to the opposite end of the spectrum.

As you note, this isn't true. There IS something of a trick here, and it's recorded in the wiki, but I'm not gonna spoil it here in the help forum.

In summary: you're making too many assumptions, everything is working exactly as intended. Your "current conclusion" as you describe it isn't too unreasonable, though.

Well, it's nice to know that I'm generally on the right track and not bugged.

Thanks. :)
