Just setting up my format.

[[Intro borrowed (stolen, really) from stupac2, who borrowed (stole, really) from Lespectre:]]
[[Stuff in plain text is direct quotes or paraphrase. Stuff in parenthesis is condensed summary. Stuff in braces is my humble clarifications or insightful editorial comments.]]
[[Please PM me with corrections, if you submit a correction any other way I will leave it up out of spite (and hunt you down); I do my best, but don’t necessarily know what every question is referring to. To what every question is referring.]]

(pre-tea tyme conversation)
(talk about shootings in baltimore, british accents<- this suggestion was shot down by ryme, etc.)

Ryme: Well, it's close enough, I guess we can get started.
ROFLman69: HOW DOES HE KNOW?
TSN: fsck you satan.
Ryme: First off, thanks for coming out for the Q&A session.
Ryme: Second, I'm just going to take questions from open chat, but please hold off on asking if I'm clearly in the middle of answering another.
The Supernaturalist (TSN): announcement: i will be using /c roleplay to conduct non Q&A related chat, you guys are welcome to come :)
TSN: (sorry for interruption)
ROFLman69 coughs
Ryme: Lost my train of thought.
ROFLman69: Right then....shall we begin the Q&A?
Ryme: Oh, yeah, no spamming questions. Some I might not want to answer, some I'll get to and I'll just be busy.
Ryme: If you think I missed something, give me a screen or so before asking again.
Ryme: I think that's the big stuff. Anyone want to start?
TSN: Any plans for more devs?
dfmchfhf: What's a question we could ask you? ;oP
Ryme: I find the term "dev" kind of confusing, so I'm not sure how to answer. At this point, not immediately, but it's kind of freeform.
Ryme: A question you could ask me is: have you done anything new to chat yet?
TSN: Have you done anything new to chat yet?
Ryme: Yes, yes I have.
TSN: Coding or content?
Satan: ooo, better question! what /have/ you done new to chat!
Ryme: um, both, kinda.
Ryme: Well, for starters, there's a spoonerism generator
Ryme thinks Satan's question was quite sensible.
TSN: darn
dfmchfhf: like "when the boys come back from France, we'll have the hags thrown out!"?
dfmchfhf: aww, only short ones...
Zelandoni: Whatever happened to the Mall-like Auction House alternative?
Ryme: the size of the chat frame was kind of a consideration.
DasmanianDevil: how does one activate said generator
Ryme: try /spoon
DasmanianDevil: lol
Ryme: Mall: it's always been way back on the list of things to do; it's not critical, just useful, but a duplication of existing functionality. It'll probably stay there for a while.
Night Shade: the requirements for some bandages will change?
Ryme: coffee table = toffee cable. /em is a real /card
Ryme: not sure I follow, Night Shade.
Satan: i think he meant badges
Night Shade: yes sorry for my english i am spanish
Ryme: we'll have new badges, but I don't see changing the requirement for existing ones.
Zelandoni: What would you do for a Klondike bar?
Ryme: No worries, Shade.
ROFLman69: So anyways, Ryme, have you thought about maybe changing the Auction's time limit? Maybe give something more concrete than Very Long or Very Short?
DasmanianDevil: i think those are there to prevent sniping
Harry Dresden: Yep, it's in the Game Manual.
Satan: no sniping, sniper >.>
Seventhcross has a question
Ryme: there was some concern about last-second sniping in the auctions; by keeping it vague, I think it encourages people to bid what they want to pay instead of lurking and trying to get a last-second stea
Ryme: *steal.
ROFLman69: ok.
Seventhcross: are there any plans/ideas for other character classes?
ROFLman69: we can make that a topic on the forum
Ryme: That's a good one. Probably not heroes. I've contemplated adding villain classes on and off for a few years.
Harry Dresden: Yes please.
Ryme: But I'm not sure how I'd want it to work.
DasmanianDevil: any timeframe for completion of sweet liche / newt leather / gem powders?
Ryme: Heh. I should get on that. Hopefully by the end of the month.
TSN: you said that last month.
DasmanianDevil: thats true...
Ryme: My favorite bar in town has a sign that says "free beer tomorrow."
DasmanianDevil: lol
ROFLman69: Rol
Zelandoni: Ah, What's the deal with Mount Vernon? Anything you're willing to share?
ROFLman69: ROfl
Ryme: Ah, Mount Vernon is just one of those little personal touches. I had a car break down there on my first day of spring break. Things went downhill from there.
Seventhcross: It's KY! what more do you need? KY rules!
Ryme: It's always symbolized a little bit of personal hell for me.
Night Shade: are you gona do more places?
TSN: what are your opinions on the swine flu? :)
Ryme: Also, growing up in Indiana, one learns a general disdain for Kentucky, even if it's completely irrational. Most states have rivals like that.
Harry Dresden: Will you adjust any iotm characteristics if new regular items are comparable down the road?
Ryme goes hog wild for swine flu
ROFLman69 suggests that people start using correct terminology: H1N1 Influenza
Ryme: That's tough, Harry. I generally create the IotM's with the belief they're better than I'd make an in-game item.
TSN: projected date for theta?
Ryme: I'm likely to have in-game items that maybe have a fraction of the total effect, though. Did that with the computer interface for the Helm, for instance.
DasmanianDevil: many older iotm's have been surpassed by in game items
TSN: does that mean that the awesomeness of in-game obtainable items must always be measured and be limited by previous iotms?
ROFLman69: true.
Satan: have they, DD?
DasmanianDevil: why would i ever wear a vhf1 suit
Ryme: not necessarily, Supernaturalist. Depends how difficult it is to acquire the items. Ultrarares, for instance, might be comparable.
DasmanianDevil: when i could have smart shirt/pants
Seventhcross: Can you give us the actual numbers for the smuggler sidekick? It seems most of the IotM's have their numbers listed, I think the Smuggler should, since it is a direct result of an IotM.
Satan: that's a personal choice, though :/
TSN: you sure haven't made 'em that way so far, though admittedly their benefits are different, not worse.
DasmanianDevil: its more powerful armor wise and effect wise
Ryme: Can it be worn at level 1, DD?
Ryme: "more powerful" can depend a lot on circumstances.
Harry Dresden loves the VHF-1 suit because it's wearable at 1.
TSN: question about that, why DONT you make level requirements for transportation?
Ryme: Seventhcross: I suspect someone will figure out the numbers fairly quickly.
Satan: not to mention, it can transform into the fighter, which is range 5 + PP + airstrikes
N] TSN: ryme, not with only 3 -item effects in the game they wont
Ryme: I'd never thought about level requirements for transportation. Might be a good idea, actually.
TSN: with the only known item drop rate being for the harbor
Satan: damnit >.> there goes my plan to use the VHF
Ryme: Sorry, SN, but that's not completely true. A very easy spading method is being overlooked.
TSN: i mean, with my iotms i am managing to kill triassic creatures at level 2..
Harry Dresden: I think iotm stuff will never have level limits, right?
ROFLman69: nah
ROFLman69: they wont
Satan: iotms already do, don't they?
Ryme: equip requiremens? Probably not.
TSN is going to highlight that one for muhandes
ROFLman69: i mean, some people actually paid for those
Ryme: Unless I do something like the VHF-1 that transforms, and different shapes might have different requirements. But probably not even then.
Satan: huh. i think kol has limits on theirs, but not 100% sure
TSN: though IF retcon is implemented in a way similar to kol's, they might create a problem.
Ryme: I wouldn't apply requirements to existing items, no.
TSN: Q: what did you have for dinner and lunch today?
Ryme: They don't Satan. Ice pick can be worn at level 1.
N] Satan: oh... nevermind then >.>
Ryme: And all the rest of the gear.
DasmanianDevil: what is this whole retcon/acension thing about? is there a froum link explaining it?
TSN: yes, das, /search in forums.
Ryme has no idea why he selected "ice pick" of all of them.
TSN: it's a speed ascension item.
TSN: well, ice sickle is.
Harry Dresden: Because it lost almost all it's value because of in game items?
Seventhcross has another question
Ryme: Retcon is my idea for the equivalent of ascension in KoL. Basically, you finish the last quest and can replay the game, but slowly gaining skills and improving.
Seventhcross: who is the Mick
Seventhcross: ?
Malk-a-mite: Easy
Malk-a-mite: The Mick (# 5060) is a level 18 Elemental Hero
TSN: check in forums, seventh. he's the theta boss.
ROFLman69: What in the world do those Dark Arts do anyways? You toss them up, and then what?
Ryme: thanks, Malk.
Seventhcross: that's a good answer... let me try again.
Seventhcross: Is the Mick going to have a cool alternate identity, simple yes or no question...
Ryme: I'll also say this: if you've done all the existing quests, you've had a brush with the Mick
Harry Dresden: I'm the Mick, aren't I?
DasmanianDevil is not familiar with kol terms
TSN: whenever he's (or she) is released, it'll signify the advancement of twilightheroes in the next stage of development
Malk-a-mite: I was hoping for a comb with the Mick....
ROFLman69: Yes Harry, you are the Mick
Harry Dresden is Irish on his mother's side.
TSN: Q: how many more minutes of tea time?
Ryme: You two are long-lost twins?
TSN: oh, so now RYME's asking the questions.
Ryme: At least 6, maybe more if there's still questions.
Seventhcross starts looking through birth records
Harry Dresden: Cousins. Everyone in Ireland is related.
Night Shade: change of plans
TSN: Q: how many levels worth of "game-finishing" quests are you planning on?
ROFLman69: Can you make the boss fights more EPIC? Like, most of them end with a few clicks, nothing flashy. Maybe make so epic dialouge and special attacks
Night Shade: i repeated the bard quest again and i alredy do it why?
Ryme: Roflman: I try, but it's tough, especially with higher-level players. There was plenty of dialogue in level 8, I thought.
TSN: AND harder? maybe a DDD-type scaling enemy that's immune to combat items?
TSN: so no TNTs?
Ryme: Night Shade: I reset the quest because I changed the format, and to include another reward.
ROFLman69: Well can some of us help with plot development, maybe contribute an idea for plot here or there? BTW agree with SuperNatura
Ryme: There could be a scaling boss, maybe.
Ryme: As for the number of levels, that's tough. My initial plan had 10 quests plus a showdown.
Night Shade: yeah but it suck
TSN: 11 levels doesn't really take much, considering how far I and other players have gotten on a single fraday
Ryme: But I've since thought up another 4 quests, and another showdown. Not sure if I'll do them all before adding retcon, though. I think retcon will add a lot to the game and I don't want to put it off
Ryme: too much.
Korlash: Hey everyone.
(people flaming me.)
Ryme: I've got mods for that.
Night Shade: can you get the boomstick again?
Ryme: Yep, there's no limit on the "ultra-rares."
TSN: any plans for new ultra rares?
Ryme: The problem with extra classes is fitting them in around the existing ones. That means not only themes, but use of stats and such.
Ryme: While I'm waiting for some closing questions, entertain yourselves by picking a /card, any /card.
(random chat about random cards.)
Ryme: Yup: I just did the artwork for an ultrare yesterday.
DasmanianDevil: i wish there was another reflex class
Satan: damnit. and i'm still trying to find the last one ;_;
TSN: maybe if you fixed the darn thbot..
Ryme: I'll go ahead and say it's part of the forthcoming high-level content.
Satan: i do it by hand. the bot wouldn't help.
ROFLman69: So i think players should have section in the forums to contribute their own artwork for items and enemies and plot etc.
DasmanianDevil: gadgeteerr is only one that can really use ranged weapons effectively
Night Shade: how do you now there are ultra rare?
TSN: it's colored
TSN: and isn't discardable
Harry Dresden: Did the drop rate on the sock puppet get changed earlier this year?
Ryme: Yeah, I think we're at a good stopping point.
Malk-a-mite: Ryme is it true you live in a cave and only come out to forage for food and C+ manuals?
Ryme: The puppet was slightly less rare for its first week or two, but it's been the same since.
Malk-a-mite: Oh, did I miss the Q&A session?
Night Shade: cool i play finished everyone but no the 4
Ryme: PHP manuals, Malk.
Satan: AHA! in your face cris >.>
Harry Dresden: Interesting. Very interesting.

Harry Dresden: But I don't like the jack of hearts.
Satan: You caught a fish!
Ryme: The problem with extra classes is fitting them in around the existing ones. That means not only themes, but use of stats and such.
Seventhcross (em): picks a random card
Ryme: Yup: I just did the artwork for an ultrare yesterday.
DasmanianDevil: i wish there was another reflex class
Satan: damnit. and i'm still trying to find the last one ;_;
The Supernaturalist: maybe if you fixed the darn thbot..
The Supernaturalist: it's colored
The Supernaturalist: and isn't discardable
The Supernaturalist: are we done then?
Harry Dresden: Did the drop rate on the sock puppet get changed earlier this year?
DasmanianDevil: jitterbug = bitter jug
The Supernaturalist: nvm
Ryme: Yeah, I think we're at a good stopping point.
ROFLman69: Hey Night Shade, a MGS fan I see
The Supernaturalist: no harry, all UR drop rates are still the ame
Seventhcross (em): would like to see a "brawler" class that fights better without weapons equiped.
The Supernaturalist: *same
Ryme: Hopefully this was entertaining and\/or educational for some of you.
Night Shade: yeah my favorite game i
Satan: the question was basically, was it originally \/not\/ a UR
DasmanianDevil: thanks ryme
Night Shade: i love it
ROFLman69: nice, I finished MGS 3 recently
Satan: and you don't really know if the UR drop rates are the same, do you? :p
Ryme: Assuming it went over well, I'll try to set up another, probably in a week or maybe two.
Harry Dresden: Exactly, Satan. I used to get one every week or so until January or February.
ROFLman69: Never gotten a UR in my life.
The Supernaturalist: aight, i'm stopping the transcript here.
Ryme: But I do mean "slightly". Like 75%?
ROFLman69: OH yea Ryme
Harry Dresden: Guess my multi was just having good luck. Like those people that find two Ebon Eyes in a single day.
ROFLman69: I had an idea
The Supernaturalist: posted in forums.
Night Shade: can we do rare items or we can do them in the future
Ryme: thanks, SN
ROFLman69: have a special event for your B-Day

Thanks to everyone for showing up for the chat. Like I've said before, I promise the next one will be at a different time and possibly announced a couple of days earlier so people can show up.

Also thanks to SN and Malk for duplicating efforts with the transcripts.

I'm gonna sound like an ass, but not enough important questions asked. :/

Also SN, regarding hitting level 11 on one day: that's only every Frayday, not to mention (if there is) banking, so I don't think it's quite as unbalanced as you think it is.

Well if you can't attend the next Tea Time perhaps you can forward your question to someone? Or better yet - add them to the next forum topic and we can pitch Ryme some from the thread in the chat.

My questions would be particularly bad to ask. I was really saying that from the perspective of a nonmod.

Sorry I missed it, but you know, RL.
Ryme: Sorry, SN, but that's not completely true. A very easy spading method is being overlooked.
Hmm, I guess we will have to find that method... Thanks for the tip.

Considering you guys have already said that method in the other thread yesterday, I think you're probably going to figure it out pretty soon. :P

Was annoyed not to be there. However some interesting info there.

Ryme: I'll also say this: if you've done all the existing quests, you've had a brush with the Mick
I believe Susan Novak is evil. I blame her for the robots. I also think she is Livia la Frostheim, based on the missing lab equipment - it all seems too convenient. However, i believe Cristiona could be Livia - she does have the pendant to prove it. So Cristiona is part of 'the Mick'. 'The Mick' could be an organisation combining a few evil, evil people. Im sure the Hermit who lives on Mount Vernon is involved. And he's hard to kill.

I'm pretty damn sure that Cris is not Livia. It just doesn't make sense.

You know, it IS possible that any known description of The Mick is a front for the real Mick.

You don't see players that have been around since before the beta having their characters melded into the story lines? I thought that was the perk of being alpha.

Nah, it's not that. You're far too qualified for that. But the setup of that quest...it just doesn't fit. :)

Bumping thread for new tea time. Don't think we need a separate thread every time, do we?

was that supposed to be an attempt at a retcon text?
Blink wrote:Strange! that you should not have suspected years ago - centuries, ages, eons, ago! - for you have existed, companionless, through all the eternities.

Strange, indeed, that you should not have suspected that your universe and its contents were only dreams, visions, fiction! Strange, because they are so frankly and hysterically insane - like all dreams: a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice and invented hell - mouths mercy and invented hell - mouths Golden Rules, and forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him! . . .

You perceive, now, that these things are all impossible except in a dream. You perceive that they are pure and puerile insanities, the silly creations of an imagination that is not conscious of its freaks - in a word, that they are a dream, and you the maker of it. The dream-marks are all present; you should have recognized them earlier.

It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream - a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought - a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities

Bleh- I missed again! I was gone all day yesterday...

Hey Ryme- how do you feel about a RadioCatBurglar account that people can send questions into for TTwR? Then if they miss it they can see answers in the transcripts?
