Has anyone ever wondered how many/quickly the posts have to be/arrive?

It's something that has bothered me. I would have asked this in the KoL forums but they're just so... big. And there's no sub-forum for this sort of stuff because:
a) General Assymetry doesn't suit me.
b) Random Ramblings is a bit... random.

It may be the positioning of the slashes, but I'm having trouble understanding what you're asking. How quickly what posts arrive? Forum posts? I'm not sure about the "how many have to be" part.

Allow me to rephrase:

Has anybody ever wondered what it takes to make a thread [Popular]?

Does it mean how quickly the posts come? Or simply how many posts it has?

If you're talking about how the bulletin board software denotes things with the little icons, I'm not entirely sure. I think it's got more to do with frequency, but that requires a certain amount of quantity, too.

It's been ages since I've done back-end stuff with phpbb (been working with vB, mostly), but if I remember right, it's the number of replies that flags something as "popular". It might, however, also factor in number of views, but I don't believe so.

Hmmm... maybe the number of replies in a range of time... I upped a couple of PHP forums before, but I don't remember how it worked...
