November's Item of the Month (IotM) - Hero's Cape

November's Item of the Month is available in the Wok of Stars in Somerset Square. For this month only, since it's a new thing, the IotM will remain in the store for two months (so through the end of December). December will also have its own IotM.

I also want to go on record as saying I don't yet have a firm policy on whether or not I may offer old items of the month again in the future. I will decide and post this policy as soon as I've got it figured out--hopefully in the next couple of days.

What does the function of level part mean? Is the +PP displayed already adjusted for your level?

Yeah, what you see is based on your current level. I didn't think putting an equation in the description was very elegant, plus it would spoil any spading potential. Not that it's very exciting spading potential, but it seems awkward going into the details.

How about "Regenerates PP as a function of level (currently 6 PP/turn)"

Is that any more understandable?

So, what did you decide on for the policy of repeating IotMs?

There isn't a person-to-person trade yet (I really need to do that soon) but there is the auction house, and donation items are tradeable there. And will be tradeable via other formats as I create them.

Still not positive about the donation item repeat policy. I can guarantee that once an item is retired it won't ever be offered again for less than double the initial price. That gives investors something to play with, and a benefit to people who are around when the item is in the Wok of Stars.

It certainly isn't. At level 50, I get 10.

Also, this is the second "long" item, so I thought I'd point out a problem with box sizing. Both the Crib Sheet and the Hero's Cape aren't properly sized, and get a vertical scroll bar.

Yeah, there's a cap at 10--you would have hit that long before level 50, though.

The pop-ups just pick a height designed to be mostly adequate--they don't really analyze the contents to determine height. If it's problematic I can look at it, but it's gonna be low on the priorities.

+10? Really?

That's what my level 23 character is getting too.
And my level 11 is getting +8.
Or they would be getting, if I donated.

That explains why a Gold Star didn't raise it.

Certainly. Just mentioned it because I know you don't have enough to do anyway :P

Currently, there is no inactive character deletion. On the other hand - it could be implemented in the future. I assume that donation items, as in KoL, will set a flag to prevent deletion.

Neo summed it up very well. No character deletions at the moment. I'll add it sometime in the future, not sure when. Once deletions start to occur, I will also allow donators (and probably possessors of donation items) to get a nodelete flag. I'm not tracking that at the moment, though, so if you donated and then sold the item I wouldn't have you set as nodelete. I'll give plenty of warning, though.

how much is someone willing to give me for a golden star or silver star? We have to figure out a market price for these things....

That's what auctions are for...

Well, I really have no idea what the price should be. 50k? 100k? For example, in kol, a Mr. A was 5 mil last time I checked (uh, about a long time ago). Which (last time I checked a long while ago) took maybe about a month to farm? (Sound reasonable?) So, a month of farming chips could net you - how much in TH? Maybe 100k at the right place? more? half of however much you could get in a month should be about right (basing this off of the 5$ donation in TH, and the 10$ donation in kol)

Market price for stars isn't something you decide, it's something that decides itself. Wait until the playerbase grows, and what they go for will just happen.

Selling stars now is going to be a losing investment, compared to where they'll balance out.

Currently, we're less than a week into open beta, and most of the bug-chips from alpha have been purged. Therefore, most people aren't going to have much money to spend anyway I mean, I've certainly been spending my chips, but I don't even have 100k right now. Also, the auction house is still gathering steam; it's probably not checked every day, reducing the number of people who would even notice an auction.

Personally, if you want to feel out the price, you could maybe auction up a Silver Star on a 3 day auction and see where it ends up.

For what it's worth, if I had to guess, I would say that a month of dedicated farming could probably net you around 180k, give or take quite a bit. Probably more if you're tricked out for item drops, less if you're tricked out for chips.

That works out nicely.

If it's assumed that a gold star has a value = 1 month chip farming
then a silver star would have a value = 3 days chip farming.

Man, if KoL had something like that, I'd probably actually play my multi just for meat farming. Having to keep at it for a month before getting something to show... blah.

And it should keep working as long as Wok items continue to be priced in silver stars. 3 days farming should be roughly 18k. That seems... reasonable, I guess.

In case anyone's worried, or it makes a difference, I just want to affirm that Wok items will always be priced in Silver Stars.

Well, someone just put one in the house with a buy it now of 1k - not to bright...

Edit: A silver star

I was wondering about payment. Will it be possible soon to pay via sms? I know the service gamepay (www.gamepay.de) is quite good. Even tho it works out more expensive, for me, this is really my only chance of donating!

I was reminded recently that I never formally announced my policy on repeating items of the month. This is what I can tell you thus far.

1. Non-consumable items. (Equipment and the like). Other than the Hero's Cape, which runs for two months, no non-consumable item will ever be repeated or exactly duplicated or run for more than one month.

2. Consumable items. (Skills, for instance.) I reserve the right to re-release the same or functionally equivalent skills. I won't do so for at least a year, and if I repeat something it will be at least twice the original cost.
