Seems like I am spading alone again... oh well.
Thanks to bamse for supplying me with some gum, I've started spading gumshoe.
So far it doesn't look much:

+10% 23/24
+12% 49/50
+13% 19/20
+14% 23.25 (< 11%)
+15% 200/200

I got worried that my data was poisoned so I started all over again:

13% 33/34
14% 124/125
15% 450/450

Seems like repeating wasn't necessary.

bump, gumshoe spaded. Not sure what next, but I'll post here when I decide.

And the new iotm is the obvious next target for spading.

So far:

0% 50/50
-5% 50/50
-10% 250/250

Bump, 250 turns with -10% drop in the bay suggest smuggler is 35% drop rate or more. As I can't get my drop rate any lower I am out of ideas on how to spade this more accurately.
Any ideas welcome.

spade out how multi-item drops work?
spade out drop rate of a lower dropping item?

just find someone who transmogged, and get them to spade whilst at level 10 or something

Yep, someone with lower level, maybe someone who transmorgified, will be able to do it.
Any volunteers? I think a level 10 would be ideal.

Either I'm missing something, or I'm reading too much in Ryme's words.

He said we are overlooking a very easy spading method. Now, the current method requires something like 1000 turns to spade a single item. I wouldn't call that very easy, in fact it's quite hard. It takes more than a week usually, for a single item.
Maybe lower level players get different messages when using it? Maybe there is some other aspect from which you can learn the item drop rate?

As for script, ask Satan.

Don't ask me for a script, don't have one. By easy, I think he more meant possible.

Sorry, my mistake.

Personally I use the GM script published elsewhere in the forums, but it does not record the results. I was under the wrong impression that you have a better method.

I don't have one of those either. But what he meant was the iotm, the highly implausible script. Which I don't have a spare of. Nor would I give it to him if I did >.>

 I'm daft today, I should have understood that one.
If one isn't willing to donate for a script, one cannot help in this specific thing.
There are however plenty of other things that can be spaded if someone wants to help which require nothing but turns spent and open eyes.

I didn't mean different method, per se. I just meant try under different conditions. Like not being maximum level, since that number is too high for your current techniques.

Well, I guess it's back to the old way.

Anyway, I started crow:

0%: 97/100 (points at ~21%, but no proof of anything)
3%: 49/50
4%: 99/100 (less than 21%)
5%: 500/500 : 20%

Started doing Red Eyes.

36/50 on 0% suggests -10%.

29%: 99/100
30%: 500/500, -5% it is

After a lot of restarts and conceptual errors (I thought it MUST be at least -10%) Red Eyes is now spaded and it is only -5%.

As I can now do -20% I can spade up to +44%.

The main problem is that I am running out of Red Eye Mind Tricks. If anyone is willing to donate some it will be helpful.

went back to the smuggler.

Already had 250 turns at -10%.
-15%: 50/50
-20%: 450/450

Seems like the smuggler is still beyond my reach for spading. It seems to be 45% or more at cap.

Cannonball Tavern: 162 turns

Brawling drunkard: 79
Drunken brawler: 83
Brass knuckles: 19

Drop rate on the knucks is ~22.89%. Not enough data for a real percentage, but enough to know I'm not going to find what I'm looking for: an anchor with a drop rate lower than pearls, but high enough to be useful for further spading. Any suggestions?

cosmic crystals from Through the Dimensional Gate. I'm pretty sure it's equal drop rate from everything there, and around 50%.

Initial 100 trips into the gate. 37/100 crystals found.
Gruesome Phantasm - 3/15
Transdimensional Fiend - 5/19
Ethereal Behemoth - 10/21
Multidimensional Terror - 7/17
Astral Shredder - 5/14
Pandimensional Horror - 7/14

I was working toward my collector badge and thought I'd run some numbers while I was at it. With no item find bonuses either...

72 astral shredder / 25 crystals / 11 astral spline
69 ethereal behemoth / 27c / 12 etheral club
78 gruesome phantasm / 22c / 11 glob of goo
68 multidimensional terror / 28c
75 pandimensional horror / 27c / 10 pandimensional scepter
82 transdimensional fiend / 24c

444 combats + 153 crystals = ~34.5%

Not a lot of data, but it coincides closely with seventhcross's. Doesn't look promising, but I'll keep at it if there are no other anchor candidates.

Enerbun globules from DDD are pretty common... I don't have much experience there, so I couldn't tell you if it's more/less than/the same as pearls... Of course, you'll need to be able to survive the scaling there pretty easily.

I'll try that once I get back up to level 12. Fortunately, Solitude just happened to have 3 piles of bricks to make the equipment set, so I didn't have to go out of my way for that. In the meantime, I'll keep playing turns at the Gate and editing the results into my post above.

Delta Delta Delta: 3500 turns

aquatic landshark bot (442) - 201 enerbun / 23 cybertronium / 24 mona lisa drivetrain / 20 plasteel plating
bass bot (412) - 205 enerbun / 25 mona lisa drivetrain / 32 Aquasson logo
Delta Queen (461) - 240 enerbun / 23 cybertronium / 52 strut bar
jellyfish bot (424) - 228 enerbun / 50 laser macrodiode
prowler (453) - 218 enerbun / 21 laser macrodiode / 41 mona lisa drivetrain
Rho Master (426) - 210 enerbun / 44 titanium plating
squid bot (457) - 237 enerbun / 24 cybertronium / 21 strut bar
Upsilon-Iota Bot (426) - 193 enerbun / 20 cybertronium / 46 strut bar

3500 combats + 1734 enerbun = ~49.54%

Looking at the variance between bots, I wouldn't be surprised if it was 50%. I'd try to confirm it the other way, but I'd have to farm for age pills and kangaroos. I'm having a little fun using Solitude for this, but that's a bit more involved than I want to get. I'll just keep plugging away with no +item. But at around 50%, that [ought to] make smuggler possible.

Well, 450 turns with -20% item drop (assuming red-eye is indeed -5%), and still the smuggler never fails.
This puts him at +45% or more.

Once I've farmed another couple The 'Swift and ...' trilogies, I'll put my main to bear at the Delta. He's got a lot more +item available to attack the enerbun drop rate the other way.

I *think* enerbun has a 50% drop rate, or close to it.
To verify, I'm starting with +95% item drop, and I'll work my way up from there.

+95% - 91/92
+96% - 80/81
+97% - 45/46
+98% - 500/500

Well, it's less than 51%... and since it's such a pain in the ass to get a nondrop with +98%, it suggests 50% drop rate (1.98*.49= 97.02%, while 1.98*.50= 99%). If necessary, I'm willing to go as far as 1000 turns. Past that, there's no point in going further; we know drop percentages are integers, and 49% will have been effectively eliminated.

Besides, 1.99*.50= 99.5%. That's ick.

I could do it with Solitude, if I had any age pills and clockwork kangaroos on that account. I'd farm them myself, but at level 12 I figure it'd get destroyed at the Castle... and I wouldn't want to level it, because I'm having such an easy time in the Delta.

Other than that, Solitude wouldn't be able to spade the smuggler... but one thing at a time, I guess.
