We've got a little variety this month, so I figured it may be worth opening a topic.

1) Yes, I can count to 10. Yes, I'm aware I stopped at 9. I'm okay with that. There's nothing in the rules that says every month needs to be worth exactly 10 stars, and I'm staking a claim now that I will occasionally break the tradition. It probably won't happen often, and it probably won't vary by more than a couple of stars in either direction, but I like having that option.

2) There's some fun/fluff/flavor skills mixed in with real skills this month:

2a) The invisibility provided by the Ring of Fellowship is simply a chat effect. That effect has been around for a while in consumable form, but hasn't been well spaded, or has been kept mostly secret by those who have spaded it. I'm not explaining it any further than that, but didn't want anyone to buy thinking it was a combat effect.

2b) The battlecry provided by the shield is strictly flavor. Even with the note in the description, it may not be obvious, but there will be a spot in the account settings page to enter/edit your chosen battlecry. You only get it while wearing the shield, and only if you win initiative. (I don't know anyone who bothers to shout "charge!" while being completely surprised.)

3) The other boomerang in the game has been updated to have a bonus attack/turn, too. Anyone who maintains the wiki may wish to take note.

These are for sure the best items to come out so far this month.

There's two other boomerangs in the game...

I've had these items for ten minutes, and I love them already. They have nice and interesting effects and the descriptions are fun to read. Thanks Ryme. :)

Looking at it, and the change to the Boomerang, might it be an idea to make the King's +2 attacks/turn?

Again, not bad but not good either. I do like the flexibility of the outfit requirements if I understand it correctly.

(Meaning that I'll get the bonus if I have 3 boomerangs equipped, same with the rings and shield. Right?)

EDIT: Assuming of course you can equip three boomerangs :P

Everything about it wins. The text too. :)

'Grats on an awesome job. Finally, 1 spare star! (when I get my 10. :( )

I don't think this will happen, but I can dream about being able to Battlecry without having the shield actually equipped, can't I? And showing my battlecry off?

Still, that's a fun as hell little ability to mess around with for people like me. Totally awesome. The whole set seems to be of a fairly decent power level as well, though I feel I'm a horrible judge of that because I'm never going to be optimal and I'm just in the Cube all the time, so it's not like combat is ever threatening to me right now.

But yeah. Awesome-style.

Meh, none of them seem particularly powerful, even the combined effects from wearing them all. The boomerang in particular seems rather lame even compared to non-IOTM weapons (<3 Morning Star). Maybe if the 2x effect was a 3% PP absorb rather than HP.

Still, battlecry is pretty nifty even if it's only cosmetic. Though it's a shame you only get up to 150 chars and no linebreaks. D:

Not everything can, or should, be the best thing in the universe. This month was more about flavor and fun effects that people have been wanting. That's also part of why it's only 9 stars for the lot.

Did anyone else think the item descriptions were misleading? I mean, they all three say the 3% thing, but that is total, not each gives 3% HP.

Aside from that, I really liked the items... don't think I'll use them much, but good job, Ryme!

Sorry. I asked the first 30 people in chat about that, and it seemed clear. Conversely, if I'd only put the bonus on one of the items, I think it would be a lot harder for people to catch on to what the set does, particularly once they're out of the store. If you've got alternative wording which could make it any clearer, I'm game.

Eh?

Recently, something happened that put me in mind of the Ring having some sort of evil corrupting power in it: I de-equip it, then find myself with a "Sap the opponent's life force" for negative hp.

Logging out and then back in cures it, which makes me wonder if it is a bug, or if the ring itself is evil to the point of slight personal harm. It isn't much to worry about at this point, but I still wonder if Twilight's going to have its own offshore villain-lair volcano island with which to purge said evil.

I don't think so. A zone-only IotM? That's pretty mean, at this point. Any negative effects?

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of a noncombat that would remove the negative effect. Said effect doesn't kick in until you equip the Ring, then de-equip it. I think you may have to patrol first. You'll lose 0-2 or so hp per physical attack until you put the ring back on or log out.

You're the only one to report this, but if it's happening more than just one time as a fluke, it's a mistake.

Ah, it's been fixed now. I'd figured "You gain some of your opponent's life force. You gain -0 hp" meant that something had gone wrong.

Also, thank you for not making this new equipment as evil as the source material would indicate.[/b]

Hmm. Actually looks like the bug is with the login page, which isn't recognizing the set. The game then subtracts those bonuses if you remove the set. I can fix it, but the fix will break everything for anyone playing, so I've got to wait until rollover to push the files.

Temporary fix: take off the set before logging off, so that when you log in and re-equip the items they'll be counted properly.

Sorry for any trouble caused.

Bought them, equipped them, didn't like them, re-equipped my old gear. Now I'm getting hit for more than I did before when wearing my old gear adv'ing in the same area (G-3). I went from being hit 1dmg pee round to being hit 2-10 dmg per round. And I've been getting hit for only 1 dmg per round for a couple months now before anyone tells me to go get a larger sample size of turns.

There must be a problem in the item equipping/damage claculation code somewhere for equipping/unequipping certain items maybe? Perhaps the order they are equipped makes a difference? I hadn't take my previous outfit off for a good 2-3 months though and have not been leveling up either as the opportunity presents itself. I'm lvl 16 going on lvl 65 for exp and all that time I've been using a VR Helmet if those stat gains may have anything to do with it.

think that's a separate bug, actually. Haven't targeted it yet, but damage from that zone seems to change when you change gear, in weird ways. I'll be looking into that shortly, too.
