I would have thought Account Settings would have been the logical place to look...

As for the other, it's easy enough to see yourself as others do (and I only had to badger Ryme for about a month): Either click on your name in the upper left or the "Character" link at the top. This will give you your character sheet. Then, simply click on your name on the sheet.

For the first: I think account settings is pretty common. All I'd put in the manual is "account settings can be changed in the account settings link" which is a little redundant.

As for the second:
1) as cris says, or
2) just click your name in chat, or
3) search players and view profile.
