Really? No thread for this yet? Well, okay, I'll try.

Hey! It's crazy rainbow pants! Just what you wanted!
What does everyone think about them?

(Also, what do they do?)

They have a different effect after every combat round (I don't know if they act after non-combats though) most common seem to be giving you a PP boost or an HP boost. Also they can give extra exp, or +10 heat/fire (fire is orange right?) damage during the combat round. There's also one that seems to indicate that you'll have increased item drops at the end of the combat round.

They don't actually make anything colourful however!

I was expecting ... colour.

From this alone seems like an on the fence item. Nothing all that great nor all that bad.

Also, I miss Tom Snyder.

Also also, the crapass wiki here didn't help all that much as far providing information goes.

If you don't like the state of the Wiki, you can feel free to edit it yourself. It's a community site, Smoot, edited by the community for the community, and, unfortunately, we don't quite have the community to support it right now. It's a small game. You're lucky we have a spoiler site at all.

Yes, whether we like it or not, we're all part of the community. Even Smoot...

When a new item goes into a game, the smart player also checks the talk page on the wiki spoiler site. That way, the smart player can see the ongoing spading efforts.

Or y'know the smart player would have specs posted, even if they're educated guesses, on the main article rather than buried deep in "I think it's this" "No, I think it's this". Otherwise you have a forum of crap on your hands, wait a minute....

If the game ever becomes good, I'll be more than happy to try to help things along.

Yes. Smart players have every effect and mechanic of every new IotM posted on the mainspace within ten seconds of the release of the item, to five significant digits. We are well and truly sorry that we cannot live up to that.

Well, Smoot, your complaint was "The wiki sucks," was it not? And my response was that, well, if you disliked the state of the wiki, then you have two options. Perhaps I didn't make these options clear. You can...

a.) Become a useful member of the community, help the spades, and edit the wiki yourself, or...

b.) You can shut the fuck up. I think I've been over this with you before, but let me say it again: We allow criticism, but we don't allow trolling (and it is trolling, Smoot, don't try to deny it.)

There's also option c.), where you don't shut up but you stop trolling. That would be acceptable, sure, I just don't think it's going to happen.

In any case, none of that has to do with the game sucking. It has to do with the Wiki sucking. So, because you felt the need to bring up how much this game sucks in a more or less unrelated topic, I'm forced to conclude that *gasp* you were trolling! Shocker, I know.

I'm going to make this clear to you once, and only once: We are not KoL, Smoot. We're not going to let you roam free for months and months on end. If you troll, we will delete it. If you flame, we will delete it. And if you keep it up, we will ban you. It's that simple. We're not going to give you tons of leeway.

We're a small game, Smoot, and we don't need you fucking up our community.

This is pretty much the only warning you're going to get, at least from me.

Keep it in mind.

applauds Therum

I for one enjoy the Pants immensely.

The interspersed HP/PP bonuses are huge time savers, as I try to avoid paying for restorers.

My current game strategy is to farm HP points while building back up HP/PP. As you are in a zone devoid of EXP while doing this, the bonus adventures of +hp/+pp help greatly.

Plain and simple, the reason these topics get hijacked is because most of the posts amount to "I really, really, really like [specific item here] and plan on using it always." Then Smoot posts his honest opinion and/or questionable troll, quickly followed by a derailing set of personal replies to him and not about the topic. I have no interest in what Smoot has to say about anything here but specific game mechanics and possible item usage ideas. I have even less interest in reading the same replies everytime he posts. Sorry, it had to be said...

As far as the pants are concerned, they are absolutely optimal RIGHT NOW. It's inevitable that the first big dustup will be the insuing donation shirt/armor that will go up against the xentrium breastplate for optimal usage. So far, the donation items (with the exception of the pouch) have outclassed pretty much all other equipment in both power and effects/enchantments. Taking a page from KoL when comparing raw defensive/offensive power vs. effects/enchantments, the latter almost always trumps the former.

Continuing to design increasingly more powerful equipment that is so far ahead in raw power AND enchantments will possibly paint Ryme into a corner, requiring him to do at least one of two things I can forsee: 1)rebalance most , if not all, basic equipment or 2)keep adding more and more challenging foes. We currently have access to plenty of difficult foes of varying strengths/weaknesses and maybe that's sufficient for a while. As far as basic equipment is concerned, it's getting increasingly less interesting in deciding which items to wear since there aren't any real substitutes for the effects/enchantments the donation items give aside from the robo cap.

Sorry for the huge blocks of text, I tried to split 'em up best I could. :)

We are aware of that. We're just putting up the sign.

I think Ryme has expressed that he will not make time reducing donation armor, but I may be wrong. It's just from my memory. So that is an immediate problem. I'm interested in the solution.

Actually, the pants are pretty balanced, in my perspective. They are of course the best there is right now, but they aren't major game breakers. The restoration scales only little by little. The big boost is in red, I guess. The other stuff hasn't been spaded, but I don't think it's making an eye-popping difference. The pants are eye popping, at least. :)

Interesting note you pointed out: Ryme will always try to put up items similar to donation items into basic equipment. The robo cap is supposed to be the whittled Virtual Reality helmet, etc. I agree that there needs to be a very huge range of basic equipment, but hell, that'll be fixed within time.

And uh, more challenging foes? Robots can get very hard quickly. We need more mid range stuff. Like, harder than the Industry stuff, but not scaling.

This is from an eyes of a transmogger/future ascender as well...the game is becoming very very power leveller oriented right now, on this current path. Next to donation items, there really isn't much for the low level stuff.

Actually, actually, as the game expands, and we move into a retcon environment, the pants may easily be outclassed. A level 12-16 character, fighting level 12-16 foes will be served much better by Smarty Pants which have a higher power and a boost to dodging. I think the pants are quite nicely balanced, really.

Roboto Shield duplicates most of the critical bonuses of the Aegis; Seventh of Nine has the same drops as the Pouch; Binoculars have almost the same item drop as the Cape (and everyone acknowledges the Cape as insane). Honestly, things are pretty even between donating and non-donating. Gloves and boots are the two biggest problem areas.
