Creative player ideas for in-game items, zones, etc.

Talk about the game. What game? The game with the power? What power? The power of ... aw, skip it.

From chat today we were imagining a +XP talisman. And some funny ideas came to mind:

Talisman: "Make it Count"
Image: of The Count from Sesame Street
XP +100%
Init +100%
HP-max set to 1

And there were some variations on that with -1000% stats.

Haven't got 'real stats' but..what about a melee weapon UR?
Something like the Boomstick but for melee weapon users.
Could even have similar stats(same power, different elements), but that feels a bit lazy.
Maybe it could be a chainsaw or something equally over the top?
Accounts: Kurg is my main, then there's Zap/Zorzos/Kalios who are (mostly)unused multis.

financial spreadsheet+ physiological scan code = Carl's Complete Personal Inventory Software

Assemble Message:
You repurpose the spreadsheet and the scan code to keep track of all of the items you carry on your person, along with ammo and fuel levels.

This software ensures you always know exactly how your inventory is stocked, allowing you to be more prepared for a fight when it occurs. +10/15 initiative for electronic/positronic computers respectively.

Firing message:

Your watch beeps, reminding you to reload your guns, stretch your muscles, and organize your utility belt. As soon as you finish all this you encounter:

financial spreadsheet code+
physiology scan code

= Damitol Medical Insurance Solutions

Assemble message:

???

Firing Message:

(if you have Z chips)

Your watch beeps, summoning an ambulance. The paramedics immediately heal you for +X HP (and maybe +Y PP?). As a copay, they take Z chips.

(if you don't have Z chips)

Your watch beeps, summoning an ambulance. You realize you can't afford the copay, and the ambulance drives away.

----

Z chips should be something small (it's a copay, after all). 10 for electronic, 5 for positronic?

Anybody can install positronic computers, all classes can hold auras, there are items that allow non-elementalists to breathe underwater (mostly for that one quest i take it), but only naturalsits can tame. How about an item that allows any class to tame an animal 5-10 times a day?

Gadgeteer Skill Ideas

(while I adore passive skills, I think these might make more sense for the Gadgeteer)

Level 9: Upgrade Transportation. Like the other Upgrade skills, it has 3 options:

*Engine Efficiency - increases the Range of any equipped Transportation by 1.
*Souped-up Speed - reduces turn length by ???
*Aerial Adaptation - adds 'flying' ability

improved tinkering would probably increase the buff length for every effect, and maybe help the efficacy of Souped-up Speed?

Level 5: Rocket Boots

'You rig up a rickety but effective booster for your footwear.' - grants Super Jumping

Although I like the concept, but there's a few problems with Efficiency and Adaptation - they can't scale very well with skill points.
Here's an idea to fix that: Efficiency and Adaptation give +turn time, which becomes lower the more points you have in them - like Detachment, basically. Also, Adaptation would require Piloting skills.
So at 0 skill points, Efficiency and Adaptation could give +30 to turn duration.
Level 5: Rocket Boots

'You rig up a rickety but effective booster for your footwear.' - grants Super Jumping
Feels a bit too specific, can't scale with skill points, we also already have 'rocket boots' as an item.
Perhaps this could be a 'improve your hideout' skill instead?
Passive with some effects like...
1)improved resting/free rests per day(yes, not very original :D )
2)producing some chips every day(justified as using a more efficient heating/electricity system and thus paying less bills),
3)improved workbench which allows one to disassemble/unweld stuff without using an item(but with a decreasing PP cost),
Accounts: Kurg is my main, then there's Zap/Zorzos/Kalios who are (mostly)unused multis.

I always forget about Skill Points (I must be the only person happier without them).

I like that! That also makes it easier to have it interact positively with Improved Tinkering. Consider:

Upgrade Transportation

Engine Efficiency: Increase Range by 1, Increases turn length by (30-S-TE)
Souped-up Speed: Reduces turn length by 5+S/2+TS
Aerial Adaptation: Adds 'Flying' ability, Increases turn length by (30-S-TA)

Improved Tinkering modification:

TE = 10+S
TA = 10+S
TS = 5+S/2

Notes: So with 10 points in UT and IT, the turn length penalty is utterly eliminated.

---

As for AA, I'd propose it shouldn't require Passable Pilot.

In reading the wiki I discovered that there were no talismans obtainable at the Creepy Old House.
Kurg suggested I think of something and post it here, so I propose:
The Yellow Sign
Talisman
+1% XP per turn
Allows soul gazing
-10% Intellect
Edit:
[N] Kurg: I sorta expected psychic damage btw

[N] Caleb: Personally i think it would be interesting for you to get strange whisperings from the talisman after battles

[N] Kurg: Or maybe it could change your reputation randomly(insanity).. .except that wouldn't actually have a real effect. I mean with reputation being so minor.
[N] Isladar: Maybe even opening a special zone? Or special drops at the asylum...

As a user of electrolysis and/or laser hair removal to ensure I will never have a beard, I suggest any beards make their wearer vulnerable to electric damage

I'm also a big fan of ingame facial hair!

How about a zone where the enemies are different kinds of beards, moustache, side burns, goatees etc...

Yes, beards are awesome.

Leon Idas is awesome.

Mihawk is awesome too!

Even Hulk Hogan would be less of a star without the beard.

In game beard zone would be awesome ;)

Katie Holmes hits you with existential angst for 40pts of damage.

Katie Holmes climbs in your bedroom window and seduces you with feelings of inadequacy -- you are stunned for one round.

Katie Holmes, wearing pink cowboy boots, reads your memoir aloud causing you 50pts of sonic damage and 50pts of psychic damage.

Katie Holmes gets out two shock paddles and applies them to you temples while shouting, "CLEAR" but nothing seems to happen to you -- or your Thetans.

So the variety of talismans in the game is great, but I am not sure that this does anything given how much of an issue it is to switch them - though I see the narrative justification for it. I think a skill that reduced the cost would be potentially interesting.

New Teeter Street opponent:

Super Grover Cleveland

You are fighting your furry, lovable, villainous, 22nd and 24 president, Super Grover Cleveland.

Hit Messages:

Super Grover Cleveland is near.
Now, he is far.
Now, he is near. Near enough to hit you for X damage.

Your opponent cries "Super Grover Cleveland, away!", flies straight up into the air, and crashes into you for X damage.

Your opponent says, "Today's pummeling has been brought to you by the letters "T", and "H", and by the number "X". He hits you for X damage.

Oh, when you're out patrolling Twilight,
You're sure to end up in a tight fight.
Your opponent gets you out of joint.
And hits you for X points.
Oooh, the Villain is a person in your neighborhood.
In your neighborhood,
In your neighborhood,
Yes, the Villain is a person in your neighborhood,
He's a person that you fight each night.

Miss messages:

Super Grover Cleveland is far.
Now he is near.
Now he is far. He tries to attack, but is too far away. His timing must be messed up or something.

Your opponent cries "Super Grover Cleveland, away!", flies straight up into the air, and immediately crashes into a tree.

You lunge at your opponent but he vetoes your attack. Didn't think he could do that, did you?

Possible drops:

dairy prawn (a cheesy shrimp dish. Consumable for HP restoration)
gold standard (Accessory, a golden banner for +chips drop)

That's awesome! That would make a great static villain, in my opinion. But what's with the dairy prawn and gold standard?

Thanks!

Yeah, Zyborg, the drops may have been a bit obscure. Let me explain. Grover (the muppet) was often paired with another character named Prairie Dawn. (They'd sing a song about the letter Q or something.) "Dairy Prawn" is just the spoonerism of "Prairie Dawn". And Grover Cleveland (the U.S. president) was known for his policy to stay on the gold standard. (Having all U.S. currency backed by gold deposits as opposed to silver.)

Who says these forums aren't educational?

I was originally thinking of him as a regular opponent, but if he were a static villain, maybe he could drop something more personalized, like "Super Grover Cleveland's Cape" (Accessory: allows you to fly) or "Super Grover Cleveland's Helmet" (Helmet: +defense but minus to-hit because the visor gets stuck and you can't see). OR both drops, and an equipment set bonus if both are worn at the same time!

I've been playing an RPG by Mongoose called Paranoia, and have been interested in scifi for a long time, so I thought I would think up a zone based on Paranoia, 1984, etc. Apparently, I'm not the only one. Lxndr and I worked on this idea together, and here is the result...

Gamma Complex

Without Dyed Pajamas, the only available adventure is the basic Intruder Alert

Ranks go from none(lowest)>>brown>>purple>>pink>>plaid(highest)

Combat adventures -
***Brown-clearance Gammian (drops brown-clearance dye)
***purple-clearance Gammian (drops purple-clearance dye, fight when wearing brown-Clearance uniform)
***Pink-clearance Gammian (drops pink-clearance dye, fight when wearing purple-clearance uniform)
***Plaid-clearance Gammian (drops Plaid-clearance dye fight when wearing pink-clearance uniform)
***Big Brother (static villain)
***Traveler
***Friendly Killer Robot
***Med-school Medibot (references to docbots and to the anime Medabots)
***Science Guy
8**Minister of Facts (does psychic damage attacks, mentions of memory holes and unpersons)
***Thought Officer

Noncombat choice adventures -

***Intruder Alert (if you don't have a uniform): Fight or Run Away
***Intruder Alert(if you do have a uniform): Fight or Run Away or Bluff)
***Operation: (a Med-school Medibot appears to 'help' you) Fight (takes you to Med-school Medibot fight) or Let Operate (50% chance of fully recovering HP and maybe PP, or causing damage and giving you one of the status effects that being KO'd gives, like concussed, needs stitches, etc.) or Run Away

***What's this button do?: Red Button or Green Button or Blue Button or Leave Them Alone

***R&D: Fight Scientists (leads to fighting Science Guy) or Run Away or Steal/Test/Appropriate (depending on not wearing uniform, wearing a lower-ranking uniform, or wearing a higher-ranking uniform, each one yielding better R&D stuff)

One-time Adventure:

***All Hail Mr. Compy (grants you a Copy of Gamma complex software, must have plaid-clearance uniform)

items:

***Item that allows access to Gamma Complex via tunnel
***Questing rune - summons sidekick Man-Goose
***Happy Pills
***various R&D gadgets/weapons (powerful but with disastrous fumbles)
***Copy of Gamma Complex software (???)
***Brown/purple/pink/plaid-clearance dye: Combines with dyed pajamas to make brown/purple/pink/plaid-clearance uniform. If used on one of the uniforms, will change it to that clearance.
***A hammer of some sort, based on the Macintosh commercial '1984'

Can we please have a nerd riot during comic con? Think of it, Trekkies versus Wanna be Jedi, Steampunk versus Sci-fi, the possibilities are limitless. Do something like in KoL with the frat boys and hippies where you pick 1 of several sides and have unique rewards... Amazingness would ensue.

ROFLMAO! Seriously! ^^^DO THIS^^^

No Ryme, really, a serious post/question:
Is there any inclination/intent/possibility that some/any of the contest suggestions can/will be added?

:?:
When you do the best you can it's called a try!
If you don't you need to ask yourself why?
Just give it a thought,
And failure is worth naught.
And then like an eagle you shall fly!
