I've been playing this game since the posted that it was open for the public on Coldfront; and already I am level 16. The only time I was hard up on levelling was early on when I blew all my chips on buying all the computer parts. According to the manual, there will be no more level based skills. If it only takes about 3 weeks to go from 0 to 16 the very first time around maybe the game is to easy?. It cost 5000 to train from 15 to 16. That is a pitiful amount of money when the whole city is open to you. Once you can adventure in the Cube Theatre you got XP and Chips coming out of yer ears. By saving up my turns and doin all day and night I can easily go a level each time. There are games that I play online where in just a couple of days you can level up fast. But, then you can continue to build skills and such as you progress up the tree. If there aren't any more skills past 16 this is going to be a very short game once you get everything figured out.
Thanks
The ry

Personally, I think you should level up automatically, and have the skills cost money.

It sucks being limited in a low level area with like two levels waiting for me.

I agree with you completely, actually. Capping the leveling cost at 5000 is too low.

Well it is officially still in beta!

Balancing games is often a trial and error thing; you need to make the next part achievable for the average gamer, but not too easy. Early in the game, the XP comes easily but you run into a cash crunch. As you go past level 20 the cash is not such a big deal but the XP cost to level up becomes the binding constraint.

I agree that between level 10 and 20 you can just take a powerful weapon and beat the sense out of Lady McBeth to your heart's content and level up accordingly, but that is also mind numbingly boring. Given the overall quality of this game, I am sure there are more interesting things to come in the future.

If we auto-leveled, it would make BADGE SPOILER BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT impossible to get.

Yes, it's still in beta, which is why we're making suggestions. :x

I stopped having trouble with money around Level 11 ...

Then maybe the level makes up 2/3rds the cost, and the skill makes up 1/3rd.

I already got the ***** early on by accident, though, on another account. As well as another ***** I got early and by accident. :D

I kind of like the pace.
Up until you finish all of the content that is currently available, each day feels rewarding, because you can easily get the next quest. Faster rewards are fun!

I like the pace. I think certian quest areas might be a little to leveling intensive, reducing the challenge factor somewhat, but the pace its self is great. Twilight rips along nicely without hitting class impossible platues at level 4 (cough, kol, cough)

I joined about the same time as you, The Ry, and I'm level 25.

I personally happen to like the speed and challenge of levelling. Often I don't level up daily, though I'm not having any trouble with the chips. This is because of the Cube and occasionally the Casino, so obviously that's why I have no problem.

But still... it seems fluid enough for me, I don't want much changing to go on with the mechanics.

Rest of discussion split since it was becoming a tangent.

I think the level ups do go a bit fast. I find it only takes me a day or so to level up. Of course I think that has to do with the cost. Getting the exp is somewhat hard. But by lvl 11 or so whacking out 5k chips is nothing.
