So I have the effect "Got S.M.A.R.T. (perpetual) on me right now, but I'm not seeing any effects of it. Do I need to use it manually or am I missing something?

It doesn't always happens. Theres a small chance like %10 on a turn that it will happen

Thanks. I've been trying to fight the Bard King for a few days now (keep getting the message "I'm sorry, I didn't get that...") and have fought those characters over and over again. I still have yet to see a message from my SMART software though. Hmmmm...
