This thread is intended primarily as a way to communicate with wiki users in the event that the wiki itself is not reachable. Planned downtimes will be posted here. Please refrain from posts such as "It's down for me, too", as those can fill pages with lack of any info.
Major bugs may be posted here, as well as sent to the above email address. Feature requests should (for now) be discussed at the Feature Requests page on the wiki itself.

The server needs to have some heavy reconfiguring. I plan to take down the site around 6 pm Pacific Time 1/13/12 and potentially could be down for the whole weekend.
All data should be backed up at time of takedown, so no changes should be lost.

The wiki is back up and should be working except for email functions, so getting a new password won't work at this time. I will work on that within the next couple days.

It is currently down andhas been so for a while, also, recently it has been down a few times, is the host having problems?

Olaf, what's going on over there? Do we need to grab our pitchforks and stampede your hosting provider?

It's not the host (I don't think), it's somewhere in my config that just hiccups and I have to restart it. It's been an issue for a while, but since it was only maybe once every couple months at most, I just let it be. I'll look into it more tonight, but having local computer troubles right now, too. I might have to just reinstall everything. Plan on tentative downtime scheduled for the 16th.

Wiki down for several hours today. Reconfiguring everything, hopefully will avoid the reoccurring problem. Future unplanned downtime should only be a result of my own stupidity.

I can't seem to be able to connect at this very time:"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." (after more than a minute). Worked yesterday.

It seems to be back up now.

It was out for a fairly large period of time, though. I don't think the problem has been resolved.

Yes, sorry, both the breaking and fixing was my fault. I had been messing with something new before going to bed, and forgot to check in the morning. That specific issue has been resolved.

Didn't know we had that in the first place. All I can find is that the ability to /disable/ it had been removed in the current version. Will look into it more later.

It popped up shortly after you said you updated the actual wiki software.

Host is doing some server maintenance, so will go down within the next hour, but shouldn't be down very long.

Recently the wiki has been targeted by waves of spammers, is there a way to counter them, perhaps implementing the need for manual activation of new accounts? Since new members there are rare I guess this would be a viable course of action :/

I'll look into it. Temporarily, I could just change the question asked.
Ideal solution, I think is some kind of api setup ingame that you can't create a wiki account without a game account.

I'll look for a plugin or something for manual activation. It still wouldn't stop the actual account creation, though, but would prevent spam by them.

Still looking into how exactly it happened, but the wiki is down 3/31 and it's all my fault. All data is fine, but we might have to have an image upload party when this is all over.

EDIT: Good news, it looks like only extensions are affected.

I see there is some advertising on the wiki. If it helps to pay for hosting and bandwidth, I fully support it.

Testing it for now. I'd tried Project Wonderful quite a while ago for maybe half a day, and stopped for stupid moralistic reasons, but server costs add up over the years.
If it doesn't make a significant amount of money (current projections are only like 40 cents a month), I'll get rid of the ads.
Proceeds from this have a good chance of ending up as IotM's.

Oh hey, ads! Good thing I usually use the wiki with a browser where I don't have AdBlock.

Perhaps mention them in the Wiki News so people can disable AdBlock if they wish?

There's been some screwyness for the past week or so that I haven't been able to track down the cause of yet. Until now, it hadn't affected hosted sites, though.

It's back up now, but let me know if it drops out again.

When I tried to log in to the wiki, I got an error message saying I had cookies blocked.
I checked my browser settings, but I definitely had cookies enabled. I tried logging in to another game's wiki, and I had no problems there.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes. All was "fine" when I was already logged in from before, but when I logged out, I can't log in any more, because cookies.

The wikki is returning "This page can't be displayed" for me. I don't think it is a cookie issue in my case.
Hopefully this report helps track down the issue as I really value the wikki.

It's been timing out for me again since yesterday.

I'm very sorry for the big downtime. I probably won't be able to try to fix it until Monday. And I'm thinking it will involve a complete reinstall.
Again, sorry, it's driving me crazy, and I haven't been able to devote time to it yet.

Tracked down the problem to the entire drive (all 24gb) being full, still tracking down the exact cause of that, though. It also ties into the wonkiness I'd been seeing previously. The root cause is probably the same.

Just logged onto the Wikki, thanks very much for all the work getting it up and running again. The wikki is a wonderful resource and I really appreciate the time and effort.
