Done. Last run was the worst...

Thanks for hosting the contest. I really enjoyed trying out a new play style :)

Re: New retcon contest - starting August 15th

As an update, I finished my first run. I'll keep my progress here for the remainder of the contest. Psion: 15-mettle, 5 days, 46h 14m 51s (about 25 turns short of 4 days) Naturalist: 15-mettle, 5 days, 44h 5m 41s (3 turns short of 4 days) Elemental: 15-mettle, 5 days, 46h 8m 9s (no mister tea = no c...

Re: New retcon contest - starting August 15th

So it's kind of a stamina contest as well? Meaning, it doesn't matter how quickly I do my runs as much as when I finish. How do you mean it's a stamina contest? I mean that it's not about how fast your four runs are (aka do four of these types of runs during the Month of August with the fastest ove...

Re: New retcon contest - starting August 15th

I'm starting a leadin now, which means I intend to participate in this contest. Things start to get busy for me, fittingly, on the 15th, so it's probably a good that I'll be doing a few runs that won't take as much time as my normal ones. bmara (# 33488).

Re: The Vortex Suit and Subscriber's Exclusive Jacket

I haven't seen any IotM go down in price. A.R.F. It's pretty unreasonable regardless to ask for an equipment boost when something is no longer in the Wok. I can see almost no reason why you would have bought this thing for the suit since it's, as you alluded to, underwhelming, and that's regardless...

Re: The Vortex Suit and Subscriber's Exclusive Jacket

The cycle is one of my favorite iotms. While it appears a bit underwhelming, -5 seconds in a slot that otherwise does nothing is quite useful. It is a standard pull in 10-pull runs and is one of the best items I've seen released since I've joined. The suit is a bonus for niche situations. No need to...

A thousand Micks in your religion

Beating the Mick in all-items or even limited-pull runs is pretty easy. Step 1: stunner. Step 2: attack with your favorite high-powered skill until the bastard falls. No-pulls, however, has proven more challenging. In my first run I guess I was lucky that I went naturalist. With 10 SP in Maul, the b...

Re: changing foe elemental weaknesses and resistances

Okay, so I've been trying to spellsling this run, and the new resistances are making that a bit annoying. Not that I don't like variety, or that these resistances don't make narrative sense in general, but I find it quite tiring to have to remember which foes require lightning bolt, and which ones ...

Re: Rare items being given away.

I think it'd be fun to have a retcon contest. Since maso has been done, the only other level-playing field is some rendition of no-pull. I've yet to go into this world and would certainly participate if you had a contest like that.

Re: Whirlwind

I'm going to give <30 hours a shot without iotms some time after next Monday (busy weekend). I see no reason why it's not entirely possible without the use of flash powder, squid discs, or any other expensive items. It just takes a bit of a different strategy.

Re: Market Discussion Thread

Out of curiosity, what about iotm loans? I may not be able to come up with 20 million chips for XXX, but I could certainly shell out a fraction of that to borrow an item for a specific run or a set time frame. Unlike kol, where it's very easy to liquidate big ticket items and turn around and blow cu...

Re: changing foe elemental weaknesses and resistances

As a point of curiosity, especially since you seem to be attempting to make things coherent/interesting rather than overtly difficult, have you thought of having a skill that could "tune" the type of element/override the existing type of spell damage the user casts? Or maybe even a decentl...

Re: Gadgeteer - battle tactics

I don't know if it's due to ignorance of mechanics or laziness, but I tend to approach all four classes in the exact same way. The only real variance is when I'm a naturalist, which means some of the time I'll stun my opponent until tame works. Otherwise I stick with spells, pumping skill points int...

Re: what level is the castle? (without any items of the mont

It's not about farming at a profit as it's more about survivability. Then that's not really a question. I could use recognizer bots and eventually kill shit from the start of a retcon. I guess my post was vague, but I'm looking at feasible killing with weapons and not having to restore shit constan...

Re: what level is the castle? (without any items of the mont

I guess there's a difference between the zone being doable at a level and being profitable at a level. If you're looking to create a farming zone for the lazy post-recton, then I'd say it's really not serving that purpose. If you're looking for an incentive to stay in after-recton/additional content...

Re: Thea Tyme with Ryme - Jan 28 @ 7 p.m. US mountain time

I see where you are coming from mara, and it's been talked about, but there are 150 different combinations possible, 600 if you count class. Having all boards is like having no default board, essentially. I think the Leaderboards Phase II that lets you look for any combination you like (i.e., KoLDB...

Re: Thea Tyme with Ryme - Jan 28 @ 7 p.m. US mountain time

[N] Ryme : I think I'd need to see a one-page thesis explaining that, Nardo, rather than one line. Feel free to extrapolate on the forums later. :) I feel like it would be beneficial to have leaderboards be arranged by the limitations selected rather than by mettle. It seems clear that a 10-mettle ...
